Charles London reveals Will Levis’ biggest area of growth

Titans rookie Will Levis finds himself looking to climb up the depth chart in the quarterback room. Though the former Penn State and Kentucky gunslinger still has plenty of room for growth, Tennessee quarterbacks coach Charles London has seen significant growth from the second-round selection.

During NFL training camp, a reporter asked London to explain where Levis has most improved since joining the team. He said the quarterback’s throw selection continues to get better.

“I think he’s done a really good job of figuring out his his club selection — different throws,” London said. “Everything doesn’t need to be a fastball. He’s definitely got a fastball, but we work on some of the other pitches. I think he’s really done a really good job of embracing that and figuring out what throws he needs to make. … I think that’s where he’s made a big step.”

Levis gets the chance to put his new skills to the test on Saturday. Tennessee opens its 2023 preseason schedule against the Chicago Bears at 1 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

The rookie quarterback looks forward to the opportunity.

“I’ve had some photoshoots and all that but that didn’t really feel real. But getting out on the field and being able to start it off at a historic place like Soldier Field in Chicago, it’s really, really cool,” Levis said. “And I know they’re going to show out and have a good fanbase for us there so it’ll be good energy. Should be a good time.”

Will Levis shares what he’s most excited for in preseason debut

Whether he admits it or not, Levis will probably take the field on Saturday with a few jitters. While he played inside some of the biggest stadiums in the Big Ten and SEC, the NFL is a completely different animal.

But he’s still looking forward to the opportunity to play in an iconic stadium to begin his professional career. He’s prepared to show people what he can do on the field, too.

“Just playing football and seeing just all the hard work we’ve done just come to life,” said Levis. “With a bunch of people watching? It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Levis ended his career at Kentucky with 5,232 passing yards and 43 touchdown passes while completing 65.7% of his throws. He also accounted for 11 touchdowns on the ground.

We’ll see how much of his success in college translates to the next level starting Saturday.
