CeeDee Lamb addresses ongoing negotiations for Cowboys extension

With Trevon Diggs now locked down through the 2028 season, the Dallas Cowboys can turn their focus on other young stars that need extensions this preseason. Top wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is potentially next on the list, but according to him, he’s not keeping close tabs on the negotiations.
“I told him he has full range,” Lamb said of his agent, via Jon Machota. “I just want the best of the best as far as the best for me and make sure everything is right. And when it’s right, just come let me know something.
“Other than that, I’m just gonna keep working, keep building with my guys, and when it comes September, we’re trying to start it off right.”
Lamb, drafted No. 17 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been the league’s eighth-most productive wide receiver through the last three seasons. He has 3,396 regular-season receiving yards, along with 21 touchdowns.
To estimate what Lamb might be worth to the Cowboys, you can look back at deals made in 2022. Though there were no major wide receiver extensions this offseason, players like D.K. Metcalf, Deebo Samuel and Terry McLaurin signed last year. They all signed three-year extensions ranging from $68 million to $72 million. Before them, Cooper Kupp signed for three years, $80.1 million.
However much the Cowboys are willing to pay Lamb, he knows he’s valued in Dallas. To help him out a bit more, the team added veteran Brandin Cooks who should draw some attention off the Cowboys’ top option. With Cooks’ help, Lamb could notch his third consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season in 2023.
Cowboys finalize megadeal for Trevon Diggs
The Cowboys finalized a contract extension with cornerback Trevon Diggs that makes him one of the highest-paid corners in the league on Tuesday. As the Cowboys opened training camp in Oxnard, Diggs signed a megadeal for five years and $97 million.
The deal reportedly includes $21.5 million as a signing bonus and could be worth up to $100 million with incentives.
The top-paid cornerbacks in the league are currently making between $21 million to $18 million per year. Former first-rounder Denzel Ward signed a five-year deal for $100.5 million last offseason. Jaire Alexander topped that figure weeks later with a four-year deal for $84 million.
At 24 years old, Diggs has already established himself as one of the best ball hawks in the league. He’s led all NFL defenders with 17 interceptions over the last three seasons. In 2022, he had a career-high 50 solo tackles and three interceptions. Last season, he took two of his 11 interceptions home for touchdowns.
A second-round pick for the Cowboys out of Alabama, Diggs was playing on a four-year rookie deal for $6.32 million. Now, he cashes in a major payday going into his fourth season in the league with Dallas.
