Carolina Confidential – presented by Herring Insurance Services – is your home for South Carolina football and recruiting insight from Gamecock Central’s Wes Mitchell.
The first of South Carolina’s three major June official visit weekends is here and the final confirmed number, as we expected earlier this week, is six prospects who will be in Columbia starting today.
Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County four-star ATH Jalewis Solomon
Benton (Ark.) four-star RB Braylen Russell
Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star WR Parker Livingstone
Concord (N.C.) Robinson three-star DL D’Nas White
Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic three-star S Kaj Sanders
Sanford (Fla.) Seminole three-star CB Chasen Johnson
— We hope to have some updates for you throughout the weekend, but we can tell you that the OVs will largely be structured the way they have been in the past.
All six prospects are slated to arrive Friday and leave on Saturday with the first arrival set for around 3 this afternoon. All six are scheduled to be in by 6 pm on Friday.
Friday’s schedule will feature a dinner at Gamecock head football coach Shane Beamer’s house.
— Solomon has two official locked in — to South Carolina this weekend and to Florida State on June 23. Solomon was last in Columbia for the Gamecocks’ spring game, a visit for which he gave strong reviews. While we’ve previously listed him as an “athlete,” we’ve confirmed that South Carolina sees him as a cornerback/nickel prospect.
The four-star is scheduled to be hosted this weekend by South Carolina sophomore Nick Emmanwori.
Soloman will also be accompanied by his brother, five-star 2025 EDGE Zayden Walker, who is currently ranked the No. 1 EDGE and No. 9 overall prospect in his class, so keep an eye on that as well.
— This will be South Carolina’s first time hosting Johnson on a visit but I suspect Carolina can exit the weekend as the favorite here.
Johnson has an official visit set for Pitt on June 9 and West Virginia on June 16.
— We originally had Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy three-star linebacker Elijah Newby on our official visit list for this weekend but he rescheduled his OV to South Carolina for the June 9 weekend and we’ve updated our list to reflect that.
Newby, whose recruiting stock has continued to rise, has OVs set for Southern Cal this weekend, South Carolina next weekend, and then Penn State after that.
