When runners begin lining up for the 100-meter dash, it is not too often you see a 6-foot-3, 335-pounder amongst the group, but in the case of Miami Hurricanes 2024 target Eddy Pierre-Louis, he has made it his new norm.

Over the last year, the Tampa (Fla.) Catholic four-star offensive lineman has gone viral on multiple occasions, racing competitors half his size, and that combination of speed and size has Power 5 programs across the country vying for his services.

“Well, my coach, Mike Lawrence, was the one who talked to me about running track,” Pierre-Louis said. “It’s been real cool, and every time I’ve been running track, my times have been improving. Also, coaches love seeing a big guy run, so I’m doing what’s best for me, and I’m just getting faster.”

In this latest installment of Inside The Lines, we got one-on-one with Pierre-Louis as we discussed his recruitment thus far, the Miami Hurricanes, what he likes to do outside of football, and much more:

Among the schools recruiting the No. 244 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, is Miami, a program that he visited this spring.

“The Hurricanes have a great coaching staff and people, and they’re family-oriented,” Pierre-Louis said. “I talk to the coaches all the time and frequently. We’ve all been having good conversations as well, and I’ll possibly be getting down there soon.”

Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, with whom the Florida native has developed a good bond with, are leading the recruitment efforts for Pierre-Louis.

Regarding Cristobal, Pierre-Louis loves the fact that the Miami head coach is a former offensive lineman himself and believes building a winning program starts with the big boys up front.

“He knows how important it is in the trenches and how good the offensive line has to be for the whole team to succeed,” Pierre-Louis said. “Him being there is a real good boost.”

As far as Mirabal, who took a trip to Tampa Catholic to watch Pierre-Louis in action in the spring, he loves how the Hurricanes’ offensive line coach is looking to improve you not only on the field but off it as well.

“What stands out about coach Mirabal is that he always wants to fix anything about your craft and all of that,” Pierre-Louis said. “He helped me a little bit when he came and saw me practice. He gave me a few tips about adjusting my stance and how I fire off the ball. So him giving me some tips and making sure I’m good on and off the field is really good.”
