California 4-star OL Deandre Carter ‘thinking about’ decision after Big Cat visit

Auburn brought back one of its top offensive line prospects for the second time since June, and he came all the way from California. Deandre Carter, a 4-star offensive lineman from Santa Ana (Cali.) Mater Dei, was back on the plains for Big Cat Weekend.

Carter is the No. 146 overall player int he country, the No. 8 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 16 player in the state of California according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

He gave his second Auburn trip big reviews once again.

“It was great, I loved today, yes sir,” Carter said. “I loved it a lot, so I just came back one more time. Hopefully I would have the same liking as I did the first time.”

Family

Carter thought the family feel stood out once again at Auburn.

“Family, I mean I love everything, but probably the thing that stands out more than the others is probably just like the family atmosphere,” Carter said. “A lot of colleges say they have it but I definitely feel it a lot here.”

What was the message from coaches this time?

“Just how much of an impact I can make,” Carter said. “How much importance and what I can do for myself here. What is best for myself. It is very important, it made me feel great. Just how important I feel, how important they make me feel and how I can contribute to the team.”

Carter spent nearly the entire weekend with Auburn offensive line coach Jake Thornton.

“Oh, great guy,” Carter said. “I had a bunch of fun with him, he is easy to talk to and get along with.”

Carter was impressed that Auburn got two commitments during the Big Cat Events. He feels as though what coaches have been preaching is coming to fruition.

“I think others could feel it as well, what the coaches are preaching and what they could do with this program,” Carter said.

Auburn ‘still high’

Auburn is still near the top for Carter and probably in his top three.

“I’d say they are pretty high up there still,” Carter said.

As for a decision, Carter is not ready to say when, but he is nearing one.

“I’m thinking about it, yes sir,” Carter said. “I think I have all the visits, I’d say I have my ideas on each school.”

What is most important in his school choice?

“Obviously education and football, hand in hand,” Carter said. “I want it to be the best, I want it to feel like home, get along with everyone. Then the people who will develop me to the next level. Then develop me the best I can be off the field too.”
