California 4-star OL Deandre Carter locks in official visit with Auburn

California 4-star OL Deandre Carter locks in official visit with Auburn

DeAndre Carter, a 4-star offensive lineman from Santa Ana (Cali.) Mater Dei School, has locked in an official visit to Auburn for June 16-18.

The 6-foot-3.5, 340-pounder out of Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei School is the No. 117 overall recruit, the No. 6 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 12 recruit in California by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.

Auburn joins Michigan State and USC for Carter’s official visit list so far. Right now, it would seem those two schools are at the top of his list with Auburn surging up at the moment.

Carter also has offers from SEC schools such as Alabama and Georgia, but it is not yet clear how much those schools are in the picture.

June 16-18 official visitor list

The official visit list for the June 16-18 weekend is going to be a big one for the Tigers. Here are the expected official visitors for that weekend so far.

4-star WR – Perry Thompson, Foley (Ala.) (Alabama commit)
4-star OL – Casey Poe, Lindale (Tex.)
4-star OL – Preston Taumua, Aiea (Haw.)
3-star OL – Jameson Riggs, Hiram (Ga.)

Two official visitors were on the list, but have since been removed. 4-star defensive lineman Justin Greene from Lawrenceville (Ga.) Mountain View is now off the list as he has committed to Georgia and 4-star offensive lineman Kevin Heywood from Royersford (Penn.) Pope John Paul II has committed to Wisconsin.

Personal life Bio from On3 profile

DeAndre Carter has been a starter for national powerhouse Santa Ana (California) Mater Dei ever since his freshman season. In fact, his first start on varsity came against rival and nationally ranked St. John Bosco. He then went on to start wire-to-wire at left tackle for Mater Dei in 2021, leading the Monarchs to a No. 1 ranking in the country.

He generated a lot of national attention that season when he dominated against Duncanville (Texas) High School, a roster that was loaded with blue-chip defensive linemen. Carter told the Valley News he has always had a big frame and wanted to play football since an early age. “My mom tells me of not being able to make the birthdate cut the first year – I wasn’t 5 yet – and being extremely disappointed,” he said. “But she made sure to take me back the following year.”

Basketball was also a huge love for Carter growing up, where he even made his middle school team and was the MVP, plus an all-star. But football is his first love, and he owes a lot of his success to his parents, including his mom (Patty Carter). “She’s on him just as much as I am,” his father, Antoine Carter, said. “If we notice anything that can be perfected, she will let him know. She even knows his plays, which drives him crazy.”
