Caleb Chester visiting Thursday: “They tell me I’m a priority”

Missouri City, Texas – One of the top prospects in Austin Thursday for the Texas Longhorns pool party recruiting event will be Caleb Chester.
The 6-foot-1, near 175-pounder with long arms was offered by the Longhorns May 16 after Texas assistant Blake Gideon stopped by Marshall High.
On Thursday, the Houston area cornerback prospect with 25 offers will take a first look at Texas.
“This will be the first time I have been on campus,” Chester told Inside Texas Tuesday morning. “I like Texas a lot. They are going into the SEC. I really like Coach (Blake) Gideon a lot. He’s a good guy. I like Coach (Terry) Joseph. They tell me I’m a priority. I can’t wait to get up there and see what it’s like.”
The communication has been steady and consistent with the Texas assistants. Including a conversation two days ago.
“I talk to them on a regular basis. We talked two days ago. I talk to Blake (Gideon) the most. He’s just letting me know Texas wants me bad, and makes sure I’m staying in contact with them.”
The Longhorns move to the SEC is resonating with a number of 2025 and 2026 prospects in the Lone Star State, including Chester.
“It helps a lot. It shows what they are doing over there. The movement is changing, and are going to play against the best.”
Texas A&M setting the pace early
Chester didn’t shy away from saying Texas A&M is in a good spot early on. He was on campus June 20, and is scheduled to be back in College Station this weekend.
“I would say it was real good. I didn’t expect it to be like that. Steady talking to Coach Jimbo (Fisher), he told me I’m a priority. He told me I can commit whenever I want. It felt like home with the whole coach staff making me feel welcome.”
Texas A&M has been a school Chester has been paying close attention to for a few years, in part due to a family connection.
“Texas A&M is ahead of other schools. My cousin used to run track at A&M. His name is Bryce Deadmon.”
Florida State, Arkansas, Oregon and Texas A&M are the four programs Chester has been in communication with the most since the end of his sophomore season.
Chester is one of three future Power 5 defensive backs for the Marshall Buffaloes. Chester is joined by Joshua Lair and one of the nations top 2026 prospects Isaiah Williams.
