Caelen Carson added to Cowboys Thursday injury report vs. Browns
The Dallas Cowboys saw a new face appear on Thursday’s injury report ahead of the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Cornerback Caelen Carson was a full participant, but is dealing with a knee injury.
That was the only change for the Cowboys after Wednesday’s practice. Carson is preparing for his rookie season in Dallas after going in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest, and his full participation could be a good sign for his status this week.
John Stephens was the only Cowboys player held out of practice for the second straight day. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury and Friday will be worth monitoring to determine his status for Week 1 against the Browns.
The other five players on the injury report were full participants, including Mazi Smith. He’s working his way back from an Achilles injury, but back-to-back full participations in practice are good signs ahead of the opener.

CeeDee Lamb ‘ready’ for season opener vs. Cleveland
Although he wasn’t on the injury report for Thursday, one of the questions around the Cowboys is whether CeeDee Lamb will be fully ready for the opener. He missed most of training camp while seeking a new contract, and he eventually signed a four-year, $136 million deal.
The star receiver made his thoughts clear on his status for Sunday. Lamb said he’s ready to go for the first game of the season.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” Lamb said, via DallasCowboys.com’s Patrik Walter. “Today was definitely one of those days and again, shout out to the guys, the coaches, for really guiding me throughout this whole week. Obviously, I knew that mentally I was ready and physically it’s a little different of a story, but today got me ready.
“Yeah, I’m on.”
