Buckeye Bits: Ohio State staying hot on 2025 recruiting trail, official visit updates

COLUMBUS — Ohio State is turning the page onto the last two weekends of critical official visits.
The Buckeyes have already hosted 20 official visitors in the 2025 cycle and are on deck to host roughly 23 more.
Ohio State hosted a one-day recruiting camp on June 11 and while Lettermen Row was certainly focused on the prospects working out, the opportunity presented itself to dig into some notes about the 2025 cycle.
Let’s dive in.
June 7-9 Recap
+ Four-star Carmel (Calif.) offensive tackle Jackson Lloyd and his family were in Columbus for 48 hours and those 48 hours were perhaps the most important time he and his family have spent on a college campus regardless of school. Lloyd, the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 6 offensive tackle, was floored by everything Ohio State has to offer. The Buckeyes presented a clear plan for how they would use him as an offensive tackle and the presentation was very thorough and impressive. He measured in at 6-foot-7, 285 pounds which is excellent size for an offensive tackle. I asked a source the question ‘if Ohio State lands Lloyd and David Sanders, is there a world where Carter Lowe slides to guard?’ and that was quickly shot down. All three will be tackles if they decide on Ohio State. While he is scheduled to take an OV to USC (June 21-23) this is very clearly an Ohio State-Alabama battle. The post-visit glow has worn off, I like where Ohio State stands for now. Lloyd returns to Tuscaloosa this weekend.
+ Things continue to trend well with four-star Matthews (N.C.) Weddington defensive lineman Trajen Odom, but the Buckeyes will have to wait through his remaining OVs. He goes to Oregon this weekend and then USC the following weekend. One of the biggest things coming out of his visit was how much his mom loved Ohio State, how involved Ryan Day is and the plan Larry Johnson has. I like where Ohio State sits right now, but not enough to make any picks. The Ducks are the main competition here.
+ Four-star Olney (Md) Good Counsel safety and Ohio State commit Faheem Delane didn’t waste much time on his official visit before he committed to the Buckeyes. A Lettermen Row source shared that Delane is ‘all ball’ and was ready to end his recruitment. It was always going to be Ohio State. He has canceled his official visits to Oregon and LSU.
June 14-16 Notes
+ Four-star San Diego (Calif.) J Serra Catholic linebacker Madden Faraimo was scheduled to take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. That visit is no longer happening. He was at Notre Dame last weekend, and after I talked with sources at Ohio State and connected to the Notre Dame program, I have placed a prediction into the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine on the Irish to land him. Ohio State already has two linebackers committed and are in good spots elsewhere.
+ Four-star Delran (N.J.) St. Joseph defensive lineman Maxwell Roy will still make his Ohio State official visit this weekend. I think this recruitment has cooled off for the Buckeyes, given the Odom situation, and Michigan has taken quite a stranglehold here.
+ Four-star Rome (Ga.) linebacker and Alabama commit Jaedon Harmon is scheduled to take his official visit June 21-23. It is still up in the air if he actually makes it to Columbus, however.
+ Four-star Newport News (Va.) Warwick safety Messiah Delhomme is on track to make his official visit this weekend. He’s a prospect we haven’t talked much about, but the Buckeyes are excited about his potential. I’m not sure if he ends up at Ohio State, but if the scarlet and gray are excited about a guy, it’s worth mentioning.
+ Three offensive linemen — Josh Petty, Carter Lowe and Micah DeBose — will be on campus this weekend for their official visits. Lowe, the four-star Ohio State commit, will return next weekend when David Sanders is on campus.
Defensive Backs
The two guys we talk about daily at this point are five-star Conroe (Texas) cornerback Dorian Brew and five-star Shaker Heights (Ohio) safety Trey McNutt.
Brew is still locked in to make his Ohio State official visit next weekend (June 21-23). Ohio State and McNutt are planning on an in-season official visit. If signing day was today, I think it’s likely that Brew ends up in the class and McNutt does not. Which is why it’s actually better the McNutt recruitment goes into the season, which by all counts, seems to be the plan for him and his camp.
Ohio State is exclusively looking at Brew as a cornerback, but, should he pick the Buckeyes he will learn both the outside corner spot and the nickel.
Speaking of cornerbacks, Brew makes his official visit the same weekend as commits Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord. We all know that Sanchez is locked in with Ohio State, but the recent visits elsewhere by Offord have raised eyebrows from Buckeye Nation. Ohio State is not at all concerned with Offord and feels confident with where it stands with him.
2026 Wide Receivers
Ohio State has a commitment from the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 cycle: Chris Henry Jr.
That’s truly a recruiting class where the Buckeyes are likely to take three. Along with Henry, the Buckeyes are high on Jabari Brady and Jaeden Ricketts. It wouldn’t shock me if Ricketts, a three-star prospect from Pataskala (Ohio) Watkins Memorial, is committed sooner rather than later.
