Bubba Wallace pumped after Lewis Hamilton wins F1 pole in Budapest

Bubba Wallace pumped after Lewis Hamilton wins F1 pole in Budapest

Well, we know what Bubba Wallace was doing on Saturday morning, watching F1 qualifying in Budapest as he prepares for Pocono. What better thing to get your mind off practice and qualifying than watching another series go through it? The NASCAR driver was pumped up as Hamilton took the pole.

Given the dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull, in general, this season, this is a huge result. Of course, Verstappen wasn’t far off of Hamilton, just .003 seconds slower, actually. McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri qualified P3 and P4.

That Hungarian Grand Prix is going to be exciting, to say the least. Bubba Wallace will be focused on his own race on Sunday, I’m sure, but I bet he’ll be wanting to hear the results as soon as he can.

On Twitter, Wallace had a short and simple message, “GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!”

Ahead of Cup Series qualifying, it is interesting that Wallace would have such a focus on Hamilton claiming the pole. In the last two seasons, Wallace has qualified P7 at Pocono in both races. He followed those up with a P5 and P8 finish in those two races as well.

Bubba Wallace has done a solid job qualifying lately. Maybe it is his turn to take the pole?

Bubba Wallace looking for points at Pocono

Of course, the ultimate goal is to win the race. However, Bubba Wallace needs a solid points day at the very least. As he continues to battle on the bubble against Michael McDowell, AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Suárez, and others – Wallace has to maintain consistency.

Pocono is a hard place to win at. However, Wallace’s boss, Denny Hamlin, knows how to make his way around the Tricky Triangle. That could play to Wallace’s benefit, or maybe Hamlin will keep his secrets close to his chest.

Pocono will provide not just Bubba Wallace a chance to make a playoff push, it will give everyone else a chance, too. Last week, Wallace had to fight hard, but he came out on top of the bubble drivers with a P8 finish. However, his two-point lead on the cutline is not going to be enough.

Between Pocono, Richmond, Michigan, and Daytona – Bubba Wallace should like his chances at making the playoffs. However, he has to remain on the track, avoid DNFs, and compete in the top-10 and top-5 week in and out. Maybe Sir Lewis Hamilton has given him an extra boost for the weekend?
