Bryce Young receives big ovation at Charlotte Hornets game

Bryce Young receives big ovation at Charlotte Hornets game

Bryce Young has reclaimed his spot as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback. Andy Dalton took over early in the 2024 season but after injuries, Young re-took over, and has not looked back. Carolina will be rocking with the former No. 1 overall pick moving forward.

The city of Charlotte seems pretty happy with the idea. Young was sitting courtside Tuesday night at a Hornets game, getting shown on the jumbotron late in the third quarter. For the fans in attendance, a massive ovation was heard around the Spectrum Center.

Young put his hands together as a sign of thanking all the cheers. A great moment for the quarterback, hoping to bring even more joy to Charlotte this fall with a few more wins for the Panthers.

As you can tell by the scoreboard, the Hornets were not having their best night. Atlanta wound up with a 32-point victory but Young was there throughout the game to support.

While he has been out for quite some time, there is a little bit of an Alabama crossover for Young with the Hornets. Brandon Miller was drafted No. 2 overall in 2023 but is currently out for the season due to an injury. The former Crimson Tide stars are close with each other, routinely catching up at one point.

“We talk probably every week,” Miller said in October 2023. “Struggling? No. It’s all learning. We’re both rookies. Just here as a sponge just soaking all the information we can to make us better in our career.”

Both will soon enter the third year of their careers but Young might have a little more pressure. Even with the feel-good story of taking back over as the starting quarterback, Young will need to perform in 2025. A close end to last season will provide confidence moving forward.

Young played in 14 games, 12 of which were starts. He threw for 2,403 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 60.9% of his throws.

It’s the last three games where the numbers really get good. Young went for 612 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions. Most importantly, the Panthers won two of the three — both in overtime.

Before we can blink, the NFL training camp will be on the horizon. For now, Young is still enjoying the offseason and decided to take in some basketball. Getting applause inside the arena was just an added bonus for him.
