Brock Vandagriff reveals helmet-communication issues to Mark Stoops vs. Texas, per ESPN broadcast
Kentucky is facing an uphill battle against Texas, going into a 100,000+ crowd in Austin. Communication with the sideline will be tough no matter the circumstances. But not having the in-helmet speaker certainly will not help.
Following a first quarter drive, Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff went to the Kentucky sideline to reveal his helmet communication was broken. He was telling head coach Mark Stoops and ESPN sideline reporter Katie George heard a part of the conversation.
“Just quickly, [Brock] Vandagriff and Mark Stoops are having a conversation with the officials because Vandagriff came over to the sidelines and told Stoops, ‘I can’t hear anything right now. My in-helmet communication’s not working,’” George said.
If there is no communication, it’s certainly affecting Vandagriff. Through one quarter, he has yet to complete a pass. Only two attempts have taken place but the Kentucky offense has been anything but smooth against Texas.
