#BrickByBrick26: A look at one 2026 recruit Michigan fans need to know from each position group

Today marks the first day that the Michigan staff can reach out to recruits in the 2026 recruiting class. The Wolverines are using the slogan #BrickByBrick2026 and began to reach out to some of their top targets at midnight.

Here is a look at one 2026 recruit Michigan fans should know from each position group.

Quarterback — Brady Hart, Cocoa (Fla.) High

I mean, come on, the dude’s name is Brady Hart. He was born to play at Michigan. Seriously, though, Hart has risen up as the top quarterback on the board in the 2026 recruiting class. The Top 100 prospect is a tall, athletic passer at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds and is coming off a sensational sophomore season that saw him pass for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns en route to leading Cocoa to Florida state championship. Clemson has gained some buzz over the last week, but Hart is set to make his first visit to Michigan this weekend. And it wouldn’t be surprising to see U-M make a power move. Michigan quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell is doing everything he can to land him.

Running Back — Savion Hiter, Woodberry Forest (Va.) School

Ranked as the No. 2 running back and No. 31 overall prospect in the nation, Hiter is an elite ball carrier in a really strong class at the position. New Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford recruited Hiter hard during his time at Ohio State and was able to quickly get him on campus for an unofficial visit this spring. Hiter is looking to return to U-M at some point in the near future, and his special relationship with Alford will keep Michigan in the mix throughout the process. Hiter is pretty open with his recruitment early on. Along with Michigan, schools like Georgia, Penn State and Tennessee are also in the mix.

Wide Receiver — CJ Sadler, Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech

Sadler is a dynamic, versatile athlete that best projects as a slot receiver at the next level. Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is leading the way here and has made him an early priority. Keeping Sadler, the No. 1 ranked recruit in the state of Michigan next cycle, at home is high on the checklist for the Wolverines in 2026. While Sadler is a dynamic pass catcher, you can also use him in the backfield, as a return man and even as a defensive back. Sadler is about as dangerous as they come and is a prospect I’ve likened to former West Virginia star Tavon Austin. While Michigan is high on the list early, Sadler also has a wandering eye for the south, with Alabama, Florida, LSU and more also involved.

Tight End — Mack Sutter, Dunlap (Ill.) High

There are several underclassmen options for Michigan at the tight end position next cycle. New tight ends coach Steve Casula has done a fantastic job of building early relationships and getting talented prospects to campus, including Sutter. The On300 recruit has been described as a ‘freak’ by sources close to the program and is a tall, athletic pass catcher at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds. Sutter visited Michigan for the spring game, and the Wolverines are looking to get him back to campus this summer. Sutter also happens to be part of the same club 7v7 program, Midwest Boom, that produced notable Michigan names like JJ McCarthy, Tyler Morris and I’Marion Stewart. Auburn, Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State and others are all involved.

Offensive Line — Darius Gray, Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s

Michigan offensive line coach Grant Newsome has hit the ground running in his new role and has the Wolverines squarely in the mix for a Top 50 recruit nationally in Gray. A physical, punishing interior offensive lineman, Gray was one of the most dominant underclassmen I saw live last fall. While he plays tackle for his high school team, Gray projects as a guard all the way at the next level. Gray fits the bill as a Michigan kid as well. He’s a terrific student in the classroom at a prestigious private school, is a leader on the field and in his community and is simply a culture fit. Gray made his first visit to Michigan in the spring and is looking to get back soon. He is also high on Clemson, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and others.

Defensive Line/EDGE — McHale Blade, Country Club Hills (Ill.) Hillcrest

Michigan has had plenty of success recruiting DL/EDGE prospects out of Chicagoland this cycle, landing four-star prospects Nate Marshall and Jaylen Williams. So it’s no surprise new defensive line coach Lou Esposito went back towards the Windy City and recently put an offer on the table for Blade. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is listed as a defensive lineman but currently projects as more of an EDGE in U-M’s scheme. Esposito has strong ties in Chicagoland and is now looking to get Blade on campus soon. The recent success in the area is certainly appealing to Blade, who also boasts offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC and others. The Top 100 prospect seems very open early on.

Linebacker — Jordan Campbell, Miami (Fla.) Carol City

Campbell is already an early commit to Miami. However, the Top 100 prospect was just at Michigan for an unofficial visit last week and has quickly become a top priority for new linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary. Remember, Jean-Mary is originally from Florida and is going to recruit the Sunshine State extremely hard next cycle. Flipping Campbell away from Miami will probably prove to be difficult consider the Hurricanes’ advantage in the NIL department. However, a poor season from the Hurricanes could help U-M’s cause. And it’s clear Campbell is leaving the door open to other option. At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Campbell is a versatile, athletic backer that ran an 11.2 100-meter as a sophomore.

Defensive Back — Zech Fort, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

A Top 100 prospect, Fort has already been to Michigan three times and loves what the program has to offer on and off the field. Fort, a California native, has family in the Detroit-metro and sees Michigan as a bit of a second home. Fort still needs to build a relationship with new secondary coach LaMar Morgan, but he remains interested in the Wolverines and was pleased with U-M promoting Sherrone Moore to head coach this offseason. Fort is also high on programs like Alabama, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State. At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Fort is a versatile prospect in the secondary that best projects as a nickel in Michigan’s defensive scheme.
