Brian O’Connor announces UVA will change things up in CWS elimination game vs. TCU

Brian O’Connor and the Virginia Cavaliers are facing a must-win situation at the Men’s College World Series against the TCU Horned Frogs.

At the moment, O’Connor’s team is losing by a score of 2-1, so the Cavaliers are making a change. Connelly Early started the showdown for Virginia, and he’s pitched well thus far, only allowing two runs and striking two out over five innings, but O’Connor revealed to the ESPN broadcast crew that he’s making a change for the sixth inning.

“No, we’re going to go with Brian Edgington,” answered O’Connor, asked if Early would return for another inning. “He’s going to start the next inning for us.”

Of course, Edgington put up some fantastic numbers in a complete game effort for Virginia in last weekend’s Super Regional, so O’Connor has no qualms about giving him the ball and letting him run with it.

“He’s a veteran guy, a transfer. He threw a complete game for us last week in the Super Regional Final,” explained O’Connor. “He just mixes and matches his pitches really well. He’s got a good splitter.

“You know, they did a nice job against Connelly. He worked hard for five innings, but it’s time to make a change here.”

Brian O’Connor and Virginia have no room for error, and they’re doing all they can to get the victory over the Horned Frogs. Time will tell if Brian Edgington can help the Cavaliers to victory, or if TCU is the team celebrating on Sunday afternoon.
