NC State picked up its sixth commitment of the 2024 recruiting class Friday night. Less than one week after picking up an offer from the Wolfpack, Zane Williams announced his commitment to the program.
The local Wake Forest High linebacker picked the Pack over Harvard and overs. He stood out at camp and earned an offer. NC State was his first power-five offer.
During his junior season, Williams recorded a staggering 142 total tackles, including 34.5 for loss, and 10 sacks.
He stood out from the rest of the linebackers in attendance and earned a scholarship that night. During the combine testing, he measured 5-10 3/4 tall with a 76 5/8 wingspan.
Williams also ran a 4.65 40-yard-dash, clocked a 4.37 5-10-5 shuttle, broad jumped 9-1 and recorded a 32.2 vertical leap.
The linebacker has a significant family connection to the program. His brother, former NC State linebacker Seth Williams, walked-on with the program before earning a scholarship going into the 2019 season.
According to a recent conversations with a source, he will wait until December to officially visit the Wolfpack. Considering the Wake Forest High star is located so close to campus and can visit unofficially with just a quick drive, there is no reason to rush an official.
Williams is the second linebacker commit of the class, joining three-star prospect Cannon Lewis, who also earned an offer from the Wolfpack while at a camp last year. Per a conversation with a source, it sounds like the program hopes to take three linebackers, potentially four, in this year’s class.
NC State holds the No. 49 recruiting class in the country with a class score of 85.67, which is also No. 11 in the ACC.
