BREAKING: LSU lands South Carolina transfer MiLaysia Fulwiley

Former South Carolina star guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is transferring to LSU in news that sent shockwaves through the college basketball landscape.
As a key contributor on the Gamecocks’ national title team in 2024 and the national runner-up in 2025, Fulwiley now takes her talents to SEC rival LSU with two years of eligibility remaining.
What LSU is getting in South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley
Fulwiley broke onto the scene as a freshman, scoring 11.7 points and 2.2 assists in 18.4 minutes per game, dazzling with her smooth handle, incredible quickness, and potent scoring punch. That all remained true as a sophomore, with nearly identical stats at 11.7 points and two assists.
A 5-foot-10 combo guard from Columbia, South Carolina, Fulwiley entered the portal officially on April 17 and immediately became one of the top players in the portal. At times last season she was an inconsistent shooter and defender, but now she comes to LSU with the expectation of elevating this team alongside the star power of Mikaylah Williams, Flau’Jae Johnson, and Kim Mulkey.
Fulwiley’s decision shakes up the SEC as she makes a move from one power program to another. South Carolina added Ta’Niya Latson from Florida State and returns Raven Johnson, leaving Fulwiley likely coming off the bench again. At LSU, she will likely be a starter and a focal point on a top five team in the country.
Here is what Fulwiley said on social media as she entered the portal:
“I want to begin by thanking my hometown of Columbia, SC. Without my village, I wouldn’t be where I am today, chasing my dreams. Thank you to Coach Staley, the entire South Carolina staff, and my teammates for the unforgettable memories we’ve created together. Most importantly, Thank you to the FAMS for embracing me and supporting me over the past two years.
After thoughtful consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal. I’m excited for what’s next and grateful for all the continued love and support.”
