Breaking down the uncommitted 5-star offensive linemen in the 2025 class
Four 2025 five-star prospects along the offensive line remain uncommitted as we hit the midway point in July.
Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., Lewisville (Texas) five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola and Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian five-star interior offensive lineman Josh Petty have all yet to announce their college decisions.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong broke down each recruitment on the Wiltfong Whiparound.
OT David Sanders
Sanders announced a decision date of August 17, but Wiltfong said this weekend that “nothing has been decided at this point.” He is the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect and top offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“Ohio State and Tennessee are the two programs that I think are in the best shape for David Sanders,” Wiltfong said Monday. “But you also have Nebraska in his top four and Georgia in his top four. Georgia is in the mix for a few of these guys on the board. Ohio State — they already have Carter Lowe in the fold at offensive tackle and Tennessee has one of the top interior guys, Douglas Utu in the fold.
“I’m giving an inch to Ohio State but not ruling anyone out. I wouldn’t be surprised if David Sanders takes some visits next week.”
OT Michael Fasusi
Fasusi will announce his commitment next month as well — on August 21. He is the No. 12 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.
“You have the Texas Longhorns, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas A&M Aggies,” Wiltfong said. “Those are the programs I’m looking at closest from his top five. Now, Michael Fasusi, in my opinion, when you move past the quarterbacks is one of the highest demand NIL athletes in the country. When I hear some of the numbers behind the scenes for Michael Fasusi, these programs are very serious about getting this young man in the fold. So, it’ll be interesting to see how NIL shapes his recruitment down the stretch.
“It’s certainly not the only element for him. He’s looking for a place that can develop him on and off the field, places where he has good relationships with coaches. But I just want to emphasize how much of a priority he is to these programs with the NIL numbers going around on him. Maybe I give the edge to Texas as I talk to you right now, but the Aggies and Oklahoma are very much in the mix for Michael Fasusi. He was very comfortable there on his many visits to campus, and all these programs are very serious about trying to land Michael Fasusi going into the summer.”
OT Andrew Babalola
Academics have been a major sticking point for Babalola from the beginning. He ranks No. 15 nationally and No. 4 among offensive tackles.
“Andrew Babalola, when you start talking about five-stars, he might have been the last prospect to have NIL discussions regarding what his potential worth is on the trail,” Wiltfong said. “Stanford and Michigan are the programs that I’m looking at closest with him.
But Missouri, Oklahoma and Auburn are three others that he has a keen eye on. He’s been trying to make a decision. I like where Stanford and the Maize and Blue currently stand, but we’ve been surprised before.”
IOL Josh Petty
Previously ranked as an offensive tackle, Josh Petty is now the No. 29 prospect and No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class.
“He’s got that five-position type skillset with his length and ability to move and bend,” Wiiltfong said of Petty. “Florida State is the On3 RPM prediction. Georgia Tech, they’re in the equation. Tennessee has got some family ties there, people around him that are Vols fans. Ohio State is another program in the middle of it for Josh Petty as well.
“I think Florida State’s style of play, the conference they’re in and his sister being a freshman in Tallahassee right now — those are reasons why I like Florida State for Josh Petty. But Georgia Tech, they’re in the middle of it for a few guys down the stretch, and that’s another program that Chad Simmons and I are hearing to watch.”
