Braylon Conley’s trainer, Ro Simon, says USC is getting a unique and versatile defender

While at his announcement ceremony tonight in which Braylon Conley committed to USC, WeAreSC spoke with his trainer, Ro Simon. Simon is a popular 7v7 coach and trainer in the Houston area and has worked with a number of the top prospects in the area over the years.
Simon is one of the best to give his thoughts on Conley has he has watched him progress and can give good insight into the play Conley is.
With Conley, there are many fans who question whether Conley is underrated or out performs his current ranking. According to Simon, that is an accurate assumption.
“He’s definitely underrated. With his length, his size, and his intangibles. Being able to play safety, nickel, and on the boundary. He’s definitely going to help out USC in a way that you can’t even put in words.”
That will come to USC fans as music to the ears hearing such a comment. The biggest critique for several years has been the defense and it seems the Trojans are fixing those issues quickly.
In terms of what position Conley will play in the future for the Trojans, Simon says he can see him succeed in a few spots.
“I like him as a boundary corner. But playing that nickel safety role too with his skillset, because he’s able to come down and be a good run defender. Obviously you watch the tape, he’s a very aggressive player. Really, really good in run support. So you want those guy to play in the box.”
Conley has only played defensive back since his sophomore season, which is when Simon got his hands in him as well.
“We’ve been training lately, getting a lot of work in, on and off the field. It’s been good, trying to help him refine the skillset. The kid is a unique player.”
