Boston College DL, former Michigan transfer George Rooks re-enters the transfer portal

Boston College DL George Rooks is entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. Reporting of his entry comes per On3’s Pete Nakos on Friday.

Rooks spent the past two seasons with Boston College after being at Michigan the two seasons prior. He has appeared in 32 games, including 23 starts all in Chestnut Hill, in that career with the Eagles and Wolverines. Over the past two years at BC, Rooks has posted 55 tackles, five being for loss, and 2.5 sacks with a deflection, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

A Jersey City native, Rook played high school football at St. Peter’s Prep. He was a Top-400 recruit there as a four-star in the 2021 cycle. He also rated as a Top-35 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state of New Jersey. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. With that, Rooks committed to Jim Harbaugh as part of a key class for the Wolverines back in ’21.

With that, Rooks is now the 19th departure this offseason, and sixth in the spring cycle, for Boston College. He’s leaving the program along with QB Jacobe Robinson, OT Otto Hess, CB Jalon Williams, IOL Tanner Chlupsa, and TE Ryan Boultwood.
