Boogie Fland locks in three official visits for September

Boogie Fland locks in three official visits for September

The nation’s top-ranked point guard is coming to Lexington in a couple of months.

According to multiple reports and later confirmed by KSR’s Jack Pilgrim, Johnuel “Boogie” Fland will take three official visits in the month of September. The 6-foot-3 floor general will first visit Kentucky (Sept. 8-10) before stopping at Alabama (Sept. 22-24) and then Maryland (Sept. 29-Oct. 1). Fland has already taken a trio of official visits to North Carolina, Michigan, and Indiana. UConn and St. John’s have previously hosted him for unofficial visits, as well.

Fland is considered a five-star recruit from the class of 2024 and the No. 7 overall prospect in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Harlem (NY) Archbishop Stepinac product picked up an offer from Kentucky around this time last year.

By Fland’s own admission, he’s been looking to take a visit to Kentucky since as early as February. He’s been considered the Wildcats’ top point guard option for a while and even included them in his list of finalists, which he dropped earlier this month. Joining UK were Alabama, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, St. John’s, and UConn.

“Coach (John Calipari) has been saying he really wants me at the school,” Fland recently told KSR+. “All the coaches were coming to my games. They’re a winning program. I saw them play that little exhibition tournament they had in Toronto. Just the play style.”

Suiting up on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer for the PSA Cardinals, Fland was impressive in the first four sessions. He helped lead PSA to a 12-5 record going into Peach Jam. Across those 17 appearances, Fland averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on shooting splits of 43.5/33.3/77.5. His numbers slipped once Peach Jam began, but he was still able to lead PSA to a 4-2 record in that tournament.

Fland is in no rush to announce a commitment and will go through his official visits before looking to make a decision.
