Blue Chips: Top 100 DL, On300 EDGE looking to make first visits to Michigan soon
*** One defensive lineman we haven’t talked about much this cycle is Top 100 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy prospect Ernest Willor. However, the Wolverines are right in the thick of things in this race. I exchanged a few messages with Willor, and he told me has does not have a date set for a Michigan visit but is planning to be in Ann Arbor soon. Willor, who is originally from Baltimore, hasn’t visited many schools this offseason, so his recruitment is just starting to get going. He is familiar with programs like Penn State and Maryland, and those are the two schools being talked about the most. However, he’s very high on both Michigan and Ohio State, with Michigan State and Notre Dame also in the mix. This seems like a winnable recruitment for the Wolverines, but it starts with locking in a date for his first trip.
*** On300 Baltimore (Md.) Gwynn Park EDGE Devon Baxter is also looking to make a visit soon. In fact, Baxter told me he is in the process of getting one set up right now. Michigan staffer Dylan Roney put an offer on the table in February, and Baxter remains an intriguing option on the board. The 6-foot-7, 235-pounder has a ton of upside and could explode on the trail during the spring evaluation period. Baxter has visited schools like Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina, but Michigan is obviously a superior program, and Baxter definitely wants to get an in-depth look at the program. I would also expect him to visit Penn State in the near future.
*** Three-star Olney (Md.) Good Counsel wide receiver Elijah Moore was scheduled to make it to Michigan last weekend for the spring game. However, Moore told me he had to cancel the trip for personal reasons. Michigan is still in the mix, though. Moore told me he plans to reschedule his visit for some time this offseason. At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Moore is a taller wide out, and Ron Bellamy is making it a point to get at least one pass catcher with size in the boat this cycle. Moore recently named Michigan in his top schools group and is also considering the likes of Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon, Miami, Florida State and Texas A&M.
*** Four-star Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor tight end Max LeBlanc named Michigan in his final four last night along with Ohio State, North Carolina and Tennessee. I’m going to be completely honest here. I don’t have a great read on this one. LeBlanc visited all four schools last month and has played things extremely close to the vest. LeBlanc doesn’t appear to be trending anywhere, and a decision could come soon. I’m still working to gain clarity on if Michigan would take him without seeing what Top 100 in-state tight end Brady Prieskorn does first. I would think not, but I am digging.
