Blue Chips: Tidbits on top underclassmen that visited Michigan

*** Michigan’s first on-campus camp was held this week and had a couple of big names, including Top 100 2025 El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge tight end Kaleb Edwards. Edwards worked out in front of the staff but also had a chance to meet with lead recruiter Grant Newsome and tour the facilities. Next cycle is a weaker year at the tight end position. Edwards will be a top target for the Wolverines moving forward. Right now, UCLA is considered the leader on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but Michigan is firmly in the mix and is on the rise in this recruitment after the visit.

*** On300 Garland (Texas) Sachse wide receiver Kaliq Lockett was another notable name at the camp. Like Edwards, Lockett did go through drills and worked closely with Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy. Lockett also toured the facilities and enjoyed his first look at the program. Lockett even had a chance to hang out with U-M quarterback Alex Orji, who is a Sachse alum. Lockett is planning to return for a game this fall. Michigan is an early contender along with Arizona State, Nebraska, SMU and a few others.

*** Michigan hosted three-star 2025 Asheville (N.C.) School linebacker Justin Rowe for a very quick visit last week. However, Rowe did not have a chance to really look at the program. Rowe is now set to make a return trip to Ann Arbor next week. This time around, Rowe will have a chance to meet with linebackers coach Chris Partridge and tour the facilities. Rowe grew up in Canada and hasn’t been playing football for very long. He’s very much a high upside prospect. Rowe also holds offers from Duke, Missouri, NC State and others.

*** Fast-rising 2026 Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy athlete Jalen Lott arrived at Michigan a day before this week’s came and had a true unofficial visit. Both Lott and his father, James, who played at Texas, got to tour the facilities and meet with Bellamy. Some schools like Lott as a defensive back. However, it appears Michigan is targeting him at wide receiver. Michigan has his interest early as do schools like Baylor, Missouri and TCU. The Wolverines also saw Lott live at his practice this spring and offered him on the spot.
