Blue Chips: The latest on remaining 2024 Michigan recruiting targets

*** I still have yet to make an On3 prediction for three-star Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day wide receiver Jordan Shipp. As I’ve been reporting for weeks, North Carolina is very much a threat here and has been for the last month. The Tar Heels especially impressed on his final official visit. With that said, Michigan has still had some positive dialogue with Shipp with less than a week to go before his decision. This one is going to be a very close call. I’m not sure there is anything either school can really do right now. He just has to make his own decision. We should know one way or the other later this week.
*** Michigan fans have been all over the place with emotions when it comes to the recruitment of Top 100 cornerback Aaron Scott. Look, nothing has really changed here despite his commitment date now being set for July 30. Yes, Ohio State is probably the safe pick here, but Scott hasn’t informed either school of his decision. Michigan is continuing to have daily conversations with Scott despite the ongoing dead period. The commits have also been hard at work on him as well. I still think this is a very close race and don’t plan on putting in an On3 Prediction any time soon.
*** All has been quiet in the recruitment of On300 Fort Bend (Texas) Christian offensive tackle Bennett Warren. Michigan has remained a major player here even through the almost land of Michael Uini, who obviously sided with Georgia. Right now, I think Tennessee has the momentum here. The Volunteers had his final official visit, and Warren has been quite impressionable throughout the cycle. With that said, Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore has had some very positive conversations with him recently. Warren is yet another prospect I don’t feel comfortable putting in a pick for at this time.
*** There is still no set decision date for four-star Cheshire (Conn.) Academy EDGE Jacob Smith. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does make plans soon. This is still a two-team race between Michigan and Nebraska, and nothing has changed on my end. I have an On3 prediction in for Michigan and continue to feel confident about it. Remember, Smith is the twin brother of four-star Michigan defensive line commit Jerod Smith. The two have always dreamed about playing together at the next level.
