Blue Chips: Michigan recruiting intel on Top 100 WR, recent RB offer

Blue Chips: Michigan recruiting intel on Top 100 WR, recent RB offer

*** Michigan extended an offer to Top 100 2025 Katy (Texas) Jordan wide receiver Andrew Marsh in January. Marsh, who is ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the country next cycle, said he was excited when the Wolverines decided to extend a scholarship. Marsh lives right in the middle of Texas A&M country, but he is very open to schools across the country, including Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and USC. Marsh has already been to Ohio State and plans on making his first ever visit to Michigan at some point this summer. Marsh said he loves the history of the program and the way the Wolverines have been winning on the field over the last couple of years.

*** I didn’t get to see Marsh in action due to heavy rain. However, Marsh is an impressive prospect on the hoof. The 6-foot, 175-pound listing is accurate. Marsh has the ability to play in the slot or on the outside and be a game changer. If you pull up his film, I’m sure you’ll fall in love with him as a prospect. Michigan hasn’t landed a receiver like Marsh since — oh no — Xavier Worthy, who obviously did not make it to campus. Marsh is an early priority on the wide receiver board, and one that Michigan will work hard on over the next year. Yes, it will be tough to pull him from the Lone Star State, but if Michigan keeps winning and recruiting at a high level, anything can happen.

*** Katy (Texas) Jordan is also home to rising 2025 running back Chad Gasper, who notched an offer from Michigan this winter. Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart stopped by to see Gasper and personally extended the scholarship. Gasper said he had a great initial conversation with Hart and is looking to build an even better relationship with him moving forward. Gasper obviously loves the way Michigan runs the football and added that being featured in an offense will be a key factor in his recruitment. The Michigan offer was a big one for him, and the Wolverines are very much in play here.

*** Like Marsh, Gasper is taking a national approach to his recruitment and plans to make several out-of-region visits this summer. Gasper told me Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin are some of the schools he wants to check out. Gasper’s only in-state offer so far is from Houston, so Michigan does have a leg up on schools closer to home. Gasper is not currently ranked, but he is an intriguing back with versatility. Gasper spends a good amount of time in the slot and is a plus pass catcher out of the backfield. He racked up nearly 900 yards of total offense as a sophomore last year.
