Blue Chips: Michigan after ‘freak’ WR in 2025, more underclassmen tidbits

*** Michigan hosted 2025 On300 Milton (Ga.) High wide receiver CJ Wiley for an unofficial visit for the BBQ at The Big House last month. I spoke to a source close to the program, who told me that Wiley is a ‘freak’ and at the top of the board for next cycle. At 6-foot-4, 188 pounds, Wiley is exactly what the Wolverines are looking for on the outside. Remember, Michigan is still in need of a big-bodied wide out this cycle. If the Wolverines can’t find one this fall, they are likely to take a couple next cycle, with Wiley being a priority. Wiley also visited Michigan in June and is very high on the Wolverines early on.
*** Our Zach Libby recently conducted an interview with Wiley, who had said a big highlight of the trip was working with U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy: “Coach Bellamy did a really good job of teaching me stuff and helping me with the things that I’m missing. He explained it well. He told me after the workout that I did great and that he would ‘like to have me here.’ The way I think of him is that he’s a really good coach and knows what he’s doing.” Bellamy is off to a strong start with Wiley next cycle.
*** Michigan is looking to make a big impact at Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna. After all, the Wolverines hold a commitment from Top 100 2025 cornerback Chris Ewald and are right in the thick of things for Top 100 2024 safety Zaquan Patterson. But there is another prospect to know at the South Florida powerhouse. Four-star 2025 wide receiver Kamare Williams notched a Michigan offer during the spring evaluation period and is intrigued by the Wolverines. In fact, I talked to Ewald’s father, and he told me that Williams plans to make a Michigan visit with them this fall. They are still figuring out a game, but it’s safe to say the Ewald family is hard at work here. Williams is another big outside wide out at 6-foot-4, 171 pounds.
*** Sticking in Florida, Michigan is off to a strong start with Top 100 2025 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin safety Hylton Stubbs. Some may not remember, but Stubbs named Michigan in his Top 4 this winter. Florida State, Oklahoma and Tennessee were the other schools feature on the list, but Florida has recently made a strong impression as well. Stubbs has yet to make his first visit to Michigan, but we expect that to change this fall.
