Blue Chips: Ex-Florida DL commit to make official visit to Michigan soon

*** Former Florida defensive line commit Michai Boireau is planning to make his official visit to Michigan for the game against Purdue early next month. Details are still being finalized, but it appears the Wolverines will finally get him on campus. Remember, Michigan was very high on Boireau in the spring, with both defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and Mike Elston swinging by to see him. Michigan missed out on top nose target Deyvid Palepale this summer and still has a void at the position. Boireau definitely fits the description at 6-foot-5, 350 pounds. I can also tell you the staff values him much more than his three-star ranking.

*** So where does Michigan stand in this race? The Wolverines still have some work to do here, and obviously we’ll know a lot more once he does make his official visit. As things stand right now, Georgia is considered the favorite to land him on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Georgia hosted him for a visit immediately following his decommitment from Florida, but he didn’t commit on the spot, so the door is still open. Florida is still in the mix with Boireau and just had him on campus over the weekend. It appears the Gators are working hard to get him back in their class. Auburn is involved here as well.

*** Three-star Maryland wide receiver commit Mekhai White tweeted out some pro-Michigan things on social media today. White has been reaching to Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy and would love to make an official visit this fall. However, I am told that Michigan wants to continue to evaluate the King George (Va.) High product. The Wolverines are working hard on flipping Georgia commit Nitro Tuggle and are still watching senior film of other prospects as well. Right now, there isn’t too much to White’s social media activity.

*** Very quickly, Michigan defensive line commit and three-star Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall prospect Manuel Beigel is expected to miss the next month of his season. Nothing serious going on here but thought I would pass along that there will be no new film of Beigel. I checked in with him over the weekend, and he told me he wants to get back to Michigan before the end of the season but doesn’t have anything set in stone. He still solid with the Wolverines. I was actually planning to see Beigel this past Saturday. I’m now hoping to do that in November.
