Big Georgia corner returns to South Carolina
One of South Carolina football’s top defensive back targets was back in town on Saturday.
Christopher Hatfield picked up an offer from the Gamecocks earlier this year and visited in January. He returned to Columbia to watch a session of spring practice over the weekend.
“Yes sir, I had a great visit today,” Hatfield told GamecockCentral.com at the conclusion of the trip on Saturday.

The Ludowici (Georgia) Long County cornerback has an intriguing blend of size and coverage skill. He stands 6-foot-3, 205-pounds.
What stood out the most this time to Hatfield?
“The coaches and the players there,” he said. “It was great. Definitely felt like home.”
In watching head coach Shane Beamer and defensive backs coach Torrian Gray put South Carolina players through the paces, Hatfield was impressed by what he saw.
“Man, the intensity was up there for sure,” he said. “I love it. He (Gray) really shows he cares and wants to win.”
Other programs to have extended offers to Hatfield include Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, and West Virginia. Georgia and others are showing interest.
Hatfield has been booked for another trip to South Carolina as well; he has an official visit lined up to USC for the weekend of June 7. That is the only other official visit that is lined up at this time.
