BBQ at The Big House Preview: Breaking down a massive recruiting weekend at Michigan

Michigan is slated to host several top recruits for its annual BBQ at The Big House event. Here is a full breakdown.
2024 Targets
S Zaquan Patterson, Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna — Miami has the heavy lead for Patterson on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, this visit to Michigan will mark his second unofficial in as many months. Michigan has closed the gap with their top priority on the safety board. Patterson is only one of a few remaining targets and will command extra attention during his time in Ann Arbor on Sunday. Michigan has a chance to make another big move in this recruitment.
2025 Targets
QB Bryce Underwood, Belleville (Mich.) High (Maybe) — A five-star prospect and the No. 1 overall recruit nationally, Underwood is currently at LSU for an unofficial visit. However, the Wolverines are looking to get him on campus on Sunday. Underwood has visited U-M on multiple occasions this offseason and has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. This one is shaping up to be an LSU-Michigan battle.
RB Justin Baker, Buford (Ga.) High — A new addition to the visitors list, Baker is making his second unofficial visit to Michigan in as many months. The Wolverines have made him a top priority on the running back board and are trending in the right direction here. In fact, Michigan has a commanding lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with an 87.7 percent chance of landing him.
WR Andrew Marsh, Katy (Texas) Jordan — Ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 17 overall recruit nationally for next cycle, Marsh is the elite pass catcher Michigan desperately desires. Marsh made his first unofficial visit to Michigan in late May and had a chance to work out with U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy at the Wolverines’ satellite camp in Detroit. Pulling him out of the Lone Star State will be tough, but Michigan is right in the thick of things early on.
WR Dorian Brew, Clayton (Ohio) Northmont — Brew is yet another elite wide receiver making his way to campus this weekend. Ranked as the No. 6 wide out and No. 33 overall prospect nationally, Brew has established himself as the No. 1 recruit in Ohio. Naturally, Ohio State has lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, Brew has visited U-M in the past and is from the same school that produced Michigan safety Rod Moore.
WR Talyn Taylor, Geneva (Ill.) Community — A Top 100 prospect, Taylor is making his second visit to Michigan of the offseason — he was also on campus for the U-M spring game. Michigan is a strong contender early on in his recruitment and is battling the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. He is a close friend of 2024 Michigan commit I’Marion Stewart.
WR Kaliq Lockett, Garland (Texas) Sachse — Lockett is making his second unofficial visit to Michigan in as many months. The Wolverines are seeing their stock soar in this recruitment, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see U-M take an outright lead this weekend. The On300 prospect is from the same school that produced Michigan quarterback Alex Orji, who has been actively recruiting him.
WR Elijah Dotson, Detroit (Mich.) Jesuit — A three-star prospect, Dotson could be in the same mold as fellow in-state product Semaj Morgan last cycle in terms of joining the Michigan class early. Michigan has a commanding 97.9 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
WR Quinn Morris, Plainfield (Ill.) East — Morris is the younger brother of Michigan wide receiver Tyler Morris. The Wolverines have an 86.4 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. If U-M pushes, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up in the class.
TE Luka Gilbert, Cincinnati (Ohio) Lakota West — Ohio State has the early lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine and will also host Gilbert this weekend. However, the On300 prospect is intrigued by Michigan and likes the Wolverines’ history of tight end production. U-M has also had success recruiting in Cincinnati as of late.
TE James Flanigan, Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame De La Baie — An On300 prospect, Flanigan is making his first-ever visit to Michigan. Next cycle is a weak year at the position, and Flanigan is near the top of the board. Wisconsin is considered the early frontrunner, while Notre Dame, Penn State and Stanford are also involved.
TE Dasaahn Brame, Derby (Kan.) High — Another On300 prospect, Brame is also preparing to make his first visit to Michigan. Brame is a Kansas State legacy, and the Wildcats are looking to keep him close to home. However, Brame is excited about Michigan and is building a connection with tight ends coach Grant Newsome.
OL David Sanders, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day (Maybe) — A five-star prospect and No. 1 overall prospect in the country, Sanders is visiting both Alabama and Georgia this weekend. However, he is working to make his way to Ann Arbor on Sunday. Sanders is a teammate of Michigan commits Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin. U-M was also his first offer. However, this one is an uphill battle for the Wolverines.
OL Carter Lowe, Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer — An On300 prospect, Lowe is making his second visit to Michigan in as many months. This is shaping up to be a Michigan-Ohio State recruiting battle and is one the Wolverines can certainly win. In fact, Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 54.3 percent chance of landing him.
OL Avery Gach, Birmingham (Mich.) Groves — Another On300 prospect, Gach is making a return visit to Michigan after checking out the Wolverines earlier this offseason. Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore is working hard to keep him close to home and will make that known this weekend. Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others are also involved.
OL Rowan Byrne, New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep — Michigan hosted Byrne for a multi-day unofficial visit last month and is now set to get him back on campus this weekend. The On300 prospect is quickly building up a strong relationship with Moore and loves what the program has to offer on and off the field. Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin are some other major players.
DL Nathaniel Marshall, Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick — A Top 100 prospect, Marshall is quickly becoming a priority for Michigan along the defensive line next cycle. Notre Dame is considered the favorite in this recruitment, but U-M will have a big chance to move the needle this weekend.
DL Jaylen Williams, Palatine (Ill.) High — An On300 prospect, Williams is another early priority along the defensive line for next cycle. Michigan got an early look at him at a satellite camp a couple of years ago and is now making a strong run. U-M is right at the top of his list along with Georgia, Miami, Tennessee and others.
DL Bobby Kanka, Howell (Mich.) High — Kanka is not ranked at this time, but Michigan has also made him a top priority for next cycle. The Wolverines offered him early in the process and have plenty of momentum going into the weekend. In fact, Michigan has a 99.1 percent chance of landing him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
EDGE Adam Shovlin, Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More — Shovlin is listed as a defensive lineman. However, Michigan is recruiting the On300 prospect for its bigger EDGE spot. Shovlin notched a U-M offer on his first visit last month. Getting him right back on campus shows just how interested he is in the Wolverines. Penn State and USC are also high on his mind.
EDGE Xavier Newsom, Detroit (Mich.) King — Newsome is listed as a tight end. However, Michigan is now recruiting him on the defensive side of the ball as an EDGE. The four-star prospect has been to Michigan on multiple occasions in the past and loves the Wolverines. U-M has an 86.1 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
EDGE Willie Fletcher, Detroit (Mich.) King — A teammate of the aforementioned Newsom, Fletcher is another intriguing in-state prospect on the EDGE board. While he’s not yet ranked, the Wolverines did offer early and really like his upside. Michigan has an 83.8 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
LB Justin Rowe, Asheville (N.C.) School — Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge sees Rowe in the same mold as 2024 commit Jaden Smith and is making him an early priority for next cycle. The three-star recruit made his first visit to Michigan earlier this offseason and has high interest in the program. In fact, Michigan has a 72.7 percent lead for Rowe on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
CB Jahmari DeLoatch, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith — A three-star prospect, DeLoatch is quickly becoming a top target on the Michigan cornerback board for next cycle. U-M defensive coordinator Jesse Minter made his way to Virginia and saw him during the spring evaluation period. Michigan has a 79.3 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
S DJ Pickett, Zephyrhills (Fla.) High — A five-star prospect, Pickett is ranked as the No. 1 safety and No. 8 overall recruit nationally. This marks his second visit to Michigan in as many months and third visit overall. Right now, Michigan appears to be right at the top of his list along with Georgia. Others like Alabama, Florida and Florida State are heavily involved as well. This is a high profile recruitment, but Pickett has family in Michigan, and the Wolverines are in a strong spot early.
S Messiah Delhomme, Newport News (Va.) Warwick — Delhomme is listed as a wide receiver. However, Michigan is recruiting him on the defensive side of the ball at safety. Delhomme already has a strong relationship with U-M safeties coach Jay Harbaugh and is excited for his first visit. Michigan has a 72.7 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
S Marcus Wimberly, Bauxite (Ark.) High — The aforementioned Harbaugh evaluated Wimberly early in the process and is making him a top priority for next cycle. While he is not currently ranked, Wimberly brings plenty of athleticism and upside. Arkansas and Michigan are considered the two schools at the top early on.
Other Underclassmen
QB Trae Taylor, Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic — A 2027 recruit, Taylor notched an offer from Michigan while camping with the Wolverines last month. He also holds offers from Maryland, Marshall, UNLV and others.
QB Kahden Davis, Jersey City (N.J.) Seton Hall — Another 2027 signal-caller, Davis does not have a Michigan offer just yet. However, it’s clear Michigan has serious interest. He does not have any offers at this time.
OL Michael Carroll, Glenside (Pa.) Central Bucks East — Carroll does not have a Michigan offer, but the 2025 offensive lineman is hopeful one will come this weekend. Michigan State, Penn State, South Carolina and others have offered.
ATH Elisha Durham, West Bloomfield (Mich.) High — A two-way 2025 in-state recruit, Durham can play wide receiver or safety at the next level. Michigan has yet to offer. He does hold scholarships from Wisconsin and several MAC programs.
Michigan Commits
QB Jadyn Davis, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day — A Top 100 prospect, Davis committed to Michigan over North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee and others in late March. He is locked in with the Wolverines and is one of the faces of the class.
RB Jordan Marshall, Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller — Marshall surprised many when he committed to Michigan over favorite Ohio State this offseason. The Top 100 prospect was the best land of the Mike Hart era. He is solid and has been leading the Michigan movement in Ohio.
WR I’Marion Stewart, Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood — Stewart committed to Michigan last month shortly following his official visit. The four-star prospect picked the Wolverines over offers from Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.

TE Brady Prieskorn, Rochester (Mich.) Adams — A Top 100 recruit, Prieskorn was the biggest in-state recruiting win for Michigan this cycle. He picked Michigan in April over offers from Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and several others.
OL Blake Frazier, Austin (Texas) Vandegrift — Frazier is the son of ex-Wolverine Steve Frazier. The legacy On300 recruit has been one of the most vocal leaders of the class. He picked Michigan over offers from Clemson, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and others in April.
OL Luke Hamilton, Avon (Ohio) High — A four-star prospect, Hamilton started the Michigan to Ohio movement by picked the Wolverines just a day after U-M took down Ohio State in November. He is visited almost every weekend last month.
OL Jake Guarnera, Ponte Vedra (Fla.) High — Guarnera is Michigan’s true center take this cycle. The three-star prospect picked the Wolverines over offers from Florida State, North Carolina, Penn State and others in April.
OL Ben Roebuck, Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward — A three-star prospect, Roebuck was an Ohio State fan as a kid, but then he grew up and committed to Michigan. Roebuck is already a villain in college football’s biggest rivalry and a vocal leader for the class. He picked U-M in March.
DL Ted Hammond, Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier — A three-star prospect, Hammond is another member of the Ohio to Michigan movement. He picked the Wolverines over offers from Cal, Iowa, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Washington and others.
LB Jeremiah Beasley, Belleville (Mich.) High — An On300 prospect, Beasley committed to Michigan over rival Michigan State last month. The in-state recruit is a perfect fit for Jesse Minter’s scheme and was a big win for the Wolverines.
DB Jacob Oden, Harper Woods (Mich.) High — Another legacy recruit, Oden is the son of ex-Wolverine Rod Oden. The On300 prospect committed to Michigan over Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and others back in February.
