BBNBA: Another Karl-Anthony Towns double-double propels Knicks to victory

I have to admit, it is still kind of weird seeing Karl-Anthony Towns in a New York Knicks jersey (especially the odd, pseudo-3D City Edition), but he seems to be making the most of it. After Monday’s 24-point, 12-rebound performance, Towns ranks 3rd in the league with 11 total double-doubles. For context, the Knicks have only played 14 games and Towns has only played in 13.

The Knicks traded for the long-coveted big man in exchange for Julius Randle, the same guy who hit a buzzer-beater to win the Timberwolves a game on Sunday. Thus far, it seems to be working out for both sides. Randle is finding a groove in Minnesota and Towns has the Knickerbockers in 4th place in the East.

The Knicks beat up the Washington Wizards Monday, 134-106. Towns’ 24 points included three triples, the same number of assists he had, and the same number of minutes Jacob Toppin played. Best of luck to Towns in his new home. I hope Karlito doesn’t find the Big Apple too intimidating.

Other BBNBA Notes:

After a near record-breaking consecutive nights of scoring, De’Aaron Fox ran out of magic on Monday against the Hawks. Down one, Fox pulled a Cooper Flagg and turned the ball over on the final possession, giving Atlanta (of all teams) the win. Still, he led all of the BBNBA in scoring with 28. His teammate, Trey Lyles got another rare start and pitched in 12 points of his own.

One day removed from dropping 44 points, Devin Booker went cold. He scored 17 points on the night but shot just 1-7 from deep. Phoenix was without Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and starting center Jusuf Nurkic in the lineup, and quite simply, Book couldn’t do it all himself. The Suns are very top-heavy with talent and they need their stars on the court to win. Without them, you get double-digit losses to Orlando.

Tyler Herro has been on a heater as of late but cooled off a bit on Monday. The Bucket had 18 points, but was inefficient from the field, shooting just 6-15. Regardless, the Heat easily rolled past the Tyrese Maxey-less 76ers.
