Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei DL Aydin Breland wrapped up his Miami Hurricanes official visit early Sunday morning and told CaneSport that “It was a great visit.”
Breland is a highly touted 4-star prospect who the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M and Miami all in double-figures percent-wise with UM sitting at a 15 percent chance. This visit may just have upped those odds, as Breland continued to build a relationship with Mario Cristobal and co-defensive line coaches Jason Taylor and Joe Salave’a.
“Me and my family had a great time, they showed us great hospitality once again,” said Breland, who visited Miami twice in the spring. “They just showed us a good vision of Miami this weekend.”
Breland has already taken an official visit to the Aggies and has trips set up to Georgia and Oregon for June 16 and 23, respectively.
So where does Miami fit in now coming off this visit?
“Can’t really place them specifically, but they are definitely in it for the long run,” Breland said. “It was a great visit overall.”
He says for the Canes to win out they have to “just keep doing what they’re doing.”
A final parting thought off the visit?
“A great program,” Breland said. “I love Mario Cristobal and the coaches, coach Salave’a and Taylor. It’s a great program, just a great program.”
CaneSport’s take
Breland is ranked the No. 34 overall prospect and No. 6 defensive lineman in the country, and Miami sorely needs guys like this 6-foot-4.5, 320-pound lineman. The Canes put their best foot forward on this visit but it’s going to be a process for him. So UM coaches will need to continue to keep the full court press on as he goes through more visits.
