Audrey Vandagriff’s walk-off homer lifts No. 18 Alabama over No. 2 Oklahoma

The rubber match between Oklahoma and Alabama lived up to the hype, as Catelyn Riley and Sam Landry went head-to-head in an extra-inning battle. Tied at one heading into the bottom of the eighth, Audrey Vandagriff called game with a walk-off home run to seal the 2-1 extra-inning thriller and the series win.
Riley tossed eight innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out five.
Landry suffered her third loss of the season, giving up two runs on seven hits while also striking out five.
How it happened:
Vandagriff, who had three hits, got things going for the Tide in the bottom of the third with a single through the left side. She came around to score on the very next pitch when Kali Heivilin smacked a double off the wall in left-center, giving Alabama a 1–0 lead.
The Sooners answered back in the top of the fourth. Nelly McEnroe-Marinas broke up the no-hitter with a towering home run to tie it up — her 11th of the season.
Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position as they combined to go 1-for-16 on Monday.
After two scoreless innings, it looked like the Sooners might pull off some late-inning magic, loading the bases in the seventh. Ailana Agbayani led off with a single and moved to second on an Abby Dayton sac bunt. An Isabela Emerling single followed, and Maya Bland pinch-hit for Hannah Coor, loading the bases after being hit by a pitch.
Riley buckled down, facing the top of the lineup. Abby Duchscherer made a jumping snap on a bouncer to cut the run at home. Riley got Gabbie Garcia to roll one back to her for the final out of the frame.
After escaping another jam in the eighth, Vandagriff stepped up for Bama and smacked the first pitch she saw over the left-field fence for a walk-off solo homer to clinch the series.
Alabama makes a quick turnaround to Gainesville to face Florida starting on Thursday. Oklahoma goes home to host Mississippi State.
