Auburn ‘top three’ for 5-star edge Anthony ‘Tank’ Jones
AUBURN – Amidst the many official visitor and camp visitors, the Auburn football staff hosted 5-star edge Anthony “Tank” Jones on an overnight weekend visit. Jones arrived in Auburn on Saturday, took in an unofficial visit, then camped on Sunday. He spent a majority of the visit with Tigers’ edge and defensive ends coach Josh Aldridge.
“Oh, I love him, he’s a great coach,” Jones said. “We get along well. I can see myself playing for him, too.”
Jones is the No. 8 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 1 edge, and the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Took care of his family
The Auburn staff played host to Jones and his family during his visit.
“Oh it was great, I loved it,” Jones said. “My family also loved it, too.”
In fact, the hospitality shown to his family is what stood out the most to Jones.
“Really just how they took care of my family,” he said.
The message from his family is simple: just find the right fit.
“Really just to take my time, find the right environment and see what best fits me,” Jones said.
The workout with Aldridge helped Jones get to know him better. Aldridge also taught Jones new pass rushing techniques.
“It was good, I feel like he taught me some stuff,” he said. “I really liked it because we got closer. The relationship is getting closer.”
Jones met with Tigers’ coach Hugh Freeze as well. He made it clear where Jones stands for Auburn.
“He’s really saying I am a top priority for the 2026 class,” Jones said. “He just wants to get me back on campus and stuff.”
Jones plans to be back on campus in July.
“The Big Cat Weekend, I think,” he said.
Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida State, Clemson, and Miami are all schools Jones has visited with LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn being visited more frequently by Jones. After the weekend visit, Jones says the Tigers are in his top three.
“I’ll say top three,” he said.
