Auburn offers Kansas tight end Gavin Hoffman
Auburn football on Wednesday extended an offer to tight end Gavin Hoffman.
Hoffman, who is from Blue Valley Northwest in Overland, Kan., announced the offer on Twitter.
“After a great conversation with (Ben Aigamaua) I am blessed to receive an offer to Auburn University,” Hoffman wrote.
Aigamaua, of course, is Auburn’s tight ends coach. The Tigers have one tight end committed in three-star Martavious Collins, but continue to look for a second in the 2024 class.
Auburn would like to add an athletic tight end, a guy who could stretch the field. Hoffman appears to check those boxes.
Hoffman put up big numbers as a junior
As a junior, Hoffman, who is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, had 39 receptions for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged more than 18 yards per catch and did so by lining up tight, as well as flexing out at wide receiver. At a recent camp at Missouri, Hoffman reportedly ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash and had a 40-inch vertical leap.
Hoffman has several offers. In addition to Auburn, Hoffman has offers from Iowa, Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Purdue, among others. He has taken official visits to Missouri and Arizona State and is scheduled to take one this weekend to Iowa.
Missouri currently leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 43%, followed by Iowa at 30% and Arizona State at 19%.
He is ranked the No. 34 tight end in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He also ranks the No. 535 overall recruit in the class and No. 3 recruit in Kansas.
2025 DL Malik Autry still committed to Auburn
Class of 2025 defensive lineman Malik Autry committed to Auburn football in February and remains committed in June, but other schools aren’t making it easy.
Autry, who is from nearby Opelika, Ala., constantly hears from Alabama, Georgia and Florida, in addition to Auburn.
“They are recruiting me hard,” Autry said of the other SEC schools. “All three of them are.”
3 SEC rivals pushing hard for Autry
Autry, in fact, has visited each of the three schools this spring. He worked out/visited at Alabama on June 17, visited Florida on June 9 and did a workout at Georgia on June 14. He’s also hearing from Clemson and LSU.
“I like them all,” he said. “They all have some great coaches. They all have great facilities, too.”
Autry was scheduled to camp at Auburn on June 15, but the weather canceled those plans. Still, he remains in constant contact with defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett and defensive line assistant Vontrell King-Williams.
“Me and Coach Garrett have talked about me taking my visits,” he said. “I’m still going to take my visits.”
