Auburn Football Recruiting Hot Board: Offense

Auburn Football Recruiting Hot Board: Offense

Auburn has 11 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class with four projected to play on offense.

There’s still plenty of work to be done before the early signing period begins in December. There’s also plenty of time.

RELATEDAuburn’s 2024 commitment list

What is left for Auburn on offense in the 2024 class? Who are the top recruits at each position and what are Auburn’s chances with each?

The Hot Board has the answers.

Below are the recruits I believe are the top targets at each position and my guesses at Auburn’s chances of signing them. Keep in mind, the percentages are Auburn’s chances against the field.

Quarterback (1)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentWalker White (4)Little Rock, Ark.–AUAU

Auburn wanted one quarterback in its class and already has committed its top target at the position. White is the No. 2 QB in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking, and the No. 2 recruit in Arkansas. He committed to Auburn over Clemson and will be at Big Cat on July 29.

Running backs (2)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentJ’Marion Burnett (4)Andalusia, Ala.–AUAUDuke Watson (4)Forsyth, Ga.–30%UL/50%Nathaniel Frazier (5)Santa Ana, Calif.––15%Caden Durham (4)Dunancville, Texas–15%10%Kevin Riley (4)Northport, Ala.–10%Miami/10%

Auburn has a commitment from Burnett and is looking for one more running back in the class. The most likely option on the board is Watson, the four-star RB from Georgia who is committed to Louisville. Watson plans to be at Big Cat next Saturday. He’s definitely one to track should the Tigers push. Frazier is a new name to the board. He’s the No. 1 running back in the country, per On3, and recently listed Auburn is in his top eight. Still, Auburn is viewed as a long shot here, but he could visit for Big Cat with friend and teammate DeAndre Carter.

Wide receivers (3)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentBryce Cain (4)Mobile, Ala.–AUAUMalcolm Simmons (4)Alexander City, Ala.–40%55%Perry Thompson (4)Foley, Ala.6/1650%Bama/50%Mario Craver (4)Pinson, Ala.–20%20%Cam Coleman (5)Phenix City, Ala.6/1210%A&M/10%

Auburn is the team to beat for Simmons. No denying that. However, will the Tigers push hard/decide to take him? Nothing definitive has been decided. He’s planning to be at Big Cat and announce a decision shortly thereafter. He’s all Auburn should the Tigers take him. And with him visiting for Big Cat, it’s trending in that direction. As for Thompson, he remains committed to Alabama. He has announced plans to attend Big Cat. but he’s also expected to visit Alabama either before or after. I still think it’s a tossup despite all the buzz to AU. And again, I would not be surprised to see Thompson flip to Auburn. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him stick. Coleman is still on the board and will continue to be despite committing to A&M. Yes, that was a big hit, but Auburn will continue and has continued to recruit. Communication between Auburn and Coleman has remained consistent. Auburn is not going down without fighting until the end. This one is far from over.

Tight ends (2)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentMartavious Collins (3)Calhoun, Ga.–AUAURoger Saleapaga (4)Orem, Utah–20%20%Amir Jackson (4)Portal, Ga.9/2915%UF/15%

Auburn continues to look for a second tight end to pair with Collins, but it’s been tough as many of the top targets have come off the board/committed to other schools. The most recent being Caleb Odom to Bama. Saleapaga is expected to make the trek from Utah to Auburn for Big Cat. I’ll be interested to see what he has to say should he visit. And Jackson is committed to Florida, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back on campus. He still has an official visit scheduled for Sept. 29.

Interior offensive line (2)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentJameson Riggs (3)Hiram, Ga.6/1645%50%

The o-line board has taken many hits, especially on the interior, with the most recent ones being Casey Poe to Alabama and Preston Taumua to Nebraska. Riggs has been quiet in his recruitment, but many close to him believe this continues to be an Auburn-Georgia Tech battle. Whether or not he attends Big Cat could be telling in his recruitment. As for others, I expect more names to surface over the next several days and weeks. Same for tackles.

Offensive tackles (2-3)

Name (star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrentReese Baker (3)Huntsville, Ala.–60%65%DeAndre Carter (4)Santa Ana, Calif.6/1650%55%Chase Malamala (3)N Palm Beach, Fla.–20%20%

Auburn continues to be the team to beat for Baker and is making a big move for Carter. Both are expected to be at Big Cat. Baker seems to be Auburn’s to lose while the Tigers continue to battle Texas (and to some extent Michigan State) for Carter. The OL from California making the cross-country trek for Big Cat should give Auburn even more momentum in his recruitment. He could have a decision soon after the visit.
