Auburn fall camp practice observations: August 10

AUBURN – Auburn football hit the practice field for another day of fall camp practice. It is the second fall camp practice under head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff.
Auburn Live was able to view a window of the practice. Here is what we saw while observing Thursday fall camp practice.
The following are Auburn Live’s fall camp practice observations. It will be a guessing game early on to see where players are on the depth chart, so we will give perceived first group, second group, etc. lineups.
Offense
— First group at offensive line from LT to RT: Gunner Britton, Tate Johnson, Avery Jones, Kam Stutts, Dillon Wade
— Second group at offensive line from LT to RT: Jaden Muskrat, Jeremiah Wright, Connor Lew, EJ Harris, Izavion Miller
— Third group at offensive line from LT to RT: Tyler Johnson, Bradyn Joiner, Jalil Irvin, Dylan Senda, Clay Wedin
— Quarterback groupings (just from drills Thursday): 1. Payton Thorne 2. Robby Ashford 3. Holden Geriner
— Micah Riley-Ducker was seen working as the tight end with the first offensive group.
Defense
— The defense worked in different groups as they went through blitz walkthroughs. The defensive line was off to the side as a group and worked on stunts and twists while receiving calls from Jeremy Garrett. It is a guess, but here is what we perceived as the standing order by group.
— Jalen McLeod was not seen with the individual defensive line/Jack, but he is the perceived starter at Jack along with McCallister. Both seem to be situational with McLeod being the primary pass rushing option. McLeod was later seen in the defense team walk-through and run-through
— First defensive line group (during individual drills):
J. Jones playing 1-tech
M. Harris playing 3-tech
Faulk playing 5-tech
Sings playing Jack
— Second defensive line group (during individual drills):
Justin Rogers playing 1-tech
Lawrence Johnson playing 3-tech
Mosiah Nasili-Kite playing 5-tech
Elijah McCallister playing Jack
— Third defensive line group (During individual drills):
Stephen Johnson playing 3-tech
Bobby Jamison-Travis playing 1-tech
Wilky Denaud playing 5-tech
Hayden Bryce playing Jack
— Several young players were seen shadowing/working behind perceived starters during drills and walkthroughs. This may not necessarily mean they are the back ups, but these are the positions they are learning and working into.
— Caleb Wooden was seen working at nickel with a few others behind him shadowing.
— JD Rhym working at corner and what looked to be safety as well in various drills.
— Freshman Tyler Scott was seen shadowing Kayin Lee on the field corner side.
— Colton Hood, a freshman corner, was seen shadowing Nehemiah Pritchett at the boundary corner and slot corner.
— Freshman Sylvester Smith was seen shadowing Keionte Scott at the nickel position.
— North Texas linebacker transfer Larry Nixon was seen shadowing Eugene Asante.
— JUCO transfer Champ Anthony was seen shadowing DJ James on the field corner side.
— Donovan Kaufman was working with the first group on the field safety side.
— Marquise Gilbert was seen on the boundary safety side with freshman Terrance Love shadowing.
— Freshman safety CJ Johnson was seen shadowing Jaylin Simpson on field safety side.
Depth chart thoughts
— Austin Keys and Eugene Asante seem to be leading the pack at linebacker from observing. Both were heard making loud calls when walk-throughs turned into run-throughs. Others were working behind them on Thursday.
Receivers starters do not seem to be pinned down whatsoever. It is mixed up as they try to figure out who may be starters. Or, maybe the staff has an idea who may start but still likes to have different looks/groups at practice.
Jayson Jones may very well be ahead of Justin Rogers on the depth chart at the 1-technique defensive line spot. It is tough to tell right now, but that is how it has looks for the past few practices.
— Steve Sings, Liberty edge transfer, seems to be directly behind McCallister and McLeod at Jack. Keldric Faulk looks to primarily be working at strong side end (5-tech).
— Zykeivous Walker is working behind Nasili-Kite at the 5-technique as well.
