Auburn ‘a big program to look out for’ says in-state Safety Cam Pruitt

Auburn football recently extended an offer to Cam Pruitt, a 3-star athlete from Theodore (Ala.).

Pruitt is right on the cusp of being a four-star recruit after seeing his stock rise significantly over the winter. He is the No. 410 overall player in the country, the No. 41 linebacker, and the No. 24 player in the state of Alabama.

On3 lists Pruitt as a linebacker. He could easily grow into one being 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds. Auburn, though, likes him at safety with the possibility of a hybrid linebacker position. He probably fits at the nickel.

“I think they said they would play me at like star position,” Pruitt said.

Before the Auburn offer, Pruitt had been hearing some from the Tigers.

“A little bit, they had been sending me mail and things like that,” Pruitt said.

Pruitt planning summer visit

Pruitt has not been to Auburn in some time.

“I visited one time, I think I was a sophomore or freshman. Me and my old classmate Will James had been down there,” Pruitt said.

Auburn coaches have been working on getting him on campus.

“They want me to come down there, visit the school, check it out. That was it for real,” Pruitt said.

Pruitt plans to visit for camp in the summer.

“Yes sir, I may go to one of their camps,” Pruitt said. “They want me to come work out and check out the school.”

More schools reaching out

If Auburn were to push for Pruitt, would he hear the Tigers out?

“I would like it,” Pruitt said. “That’s a big program to look out for. I’d show some love to them if they push hard. If they really want me out there to go to their team and play for their program and I will look towards it.”

Pruitt likes the feel of Auburn, but needs to get back to see it again as well.

“I heard they have that new facility, new practice field,” Pruitt said. “When I saw the pictures of it looked nice and the coaches and recruiting people are nice and cool. It’s a nice little vibe.”

There are several schools starting to recruit him heavily.

“It’s quite a few,” Pruitt said. “Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama sometimes, Colorado, Vanderbilt, schools like that.”
