Aubrey Burks injury: WVU defender carted off field vs. Kansas
West Virginia safety Auburey Burks had to be taken off the field on a stretcher in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Kansas. Burks was seen on the ground near the Mountaineers bench wearing a neck brace.
Sideline reporter Lauren Sisler revealed on the broadcast that it was a back injury for the WVU defender. He was taken to the hospital for further examination soon after.
“They’ve cleared the benches,” Sisler said. “They’ve got him laying on the ground with a neck brace. It looks to be a back injury. He looked to be in a lot of pain and struggling to move some of his extremities.”
Burks is a senior who is in his third year as a starter for the Mountaineers defense and is a team captain. He had two tackles in the game prior to exiting with injury.
