Atlanta Drive GC, Billy Horschel hilariously troll Justin Thomas on FaceTime using Alabama, Nick Dunlap
As Atlanta Drive G.C. took on Jupiter Links in Tuesday night’s TGL regular-season finale, a different Alabama alum joined the team. Justin Thomas was off, and Nick Dunlap stepped in to replace him.
After the first few holes, Billy Horschel got Thomas on FaceTime to talk through some strategy. As Marty Smith and the ESPN broadcast went over to hear the conversation, Horschel said Dunlap took Thomas’ spot.
Thomas, of course, was watching on TV as Atlanta Drive looked to end the regular season on a high note. But Horschel made sure to have some fun with his teammate while also putting him against his fellow Alabama alum.
“JT, we improved on [our] Alabama player,” Horschel told Thomas on their call. “I think your spot has been taken by Nicky D now.”
Thomas – proudly donning an Atlanta Drive hat – called out Horschel for being “rude” by replacing him. Of course, he also had a big smile when he said it.
“Yeah? Is that right, Billy?” Thomas said. “Is that the case? That’s rude. That is rude.”
Dunlap signed a one-match contract to compete at TGL on Tuesday as the league ended its regular season. He, of course, rose to fame as the top amateur out of Alabama when he won the U.S. Amateur and turned professional after his sophomore season.
Thomas is likely going to return to Atlanta Drive for the playoffs, which begin next week. In the meantime, though, Horschel sounded more than happy about the way Dunlap was playing.
“Nicky’s holding it down,” Horschel told Thomas as he got ready to hang up. “He’s representing Alabama the right way.”
When Thomas hung up – and with some encouragement from Smith – he also had a message. Smith asked for a “Roll Tide,” and Thomas delivered.
