Aliyah Boston scores 1,000th career point vs. Connecticut Sun
Aliyah Boston scored her 1,000th career point in the first half against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
While fans have been enamored with the arrival of Caitlin Clark — who broke the rookie record for 3-pointers made in a single season in the same game — earlier this year, Boston has been putting in work in the paint for the Indiana Fever for the past two seasons.
The bucket came from an assist from Clark, who threaded the needle to find Boston in the paint for a 10-foot jumer.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Boston averages 13.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in her second season in the association. Those scoring totals are slighly down from her 14.5 average from one year ago, but the addition of Clark hasn’t effected her productivity since she joined the team.
A former South Carolina star, Boston totaled 1,942 points across four seasons playing for Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks.
