Alabama radio crew goes wild as Crimson Tide baseball takes late lead vs. Troy on error

Alabama radio crew goes wild as Crimson Tide baseball takes late lead vs. Troy on error

Alabama baseball kept fans on the edge of their seats in its 11-8 comeback win over Troy on Saturday. However, fans weren’t the only ones jumping with joy.

Down 8-7 with two outs on the board, Alabama outfielder Tommy Seidl stepped up to the plate. The Crimson Tide had men on second and third base, desperate to get home. After Seidl slapped a routine ground ball to shortstop, it looked like that desperation would turn into mourning.

Then, insanity struck. Troy’s first baseman entirely missed the easy catch to end the game. Before Troy could blink, Alabama’s two runners on base glided across home plate to secure a 9-8 lead. As expected, a celebration ensued, including in the press box.

“Rolled out to short. That’ll be gobbled up there. They’ll plant. They’ll throw to first — and it’s an error! He gets away. Two runs will score. Oh mercy! Cobb airmailed it to first, and the Tide goes on top 9-8! Can I get an ‘Amen’ from the congregation?” Crimson Tide Sports Network’s Chris Stewart commentated.

“2 RUNS WILL SCORE AND ALABAMA HAS TAKEN THE LEAD. OHHHH MERCY!!!”

While Chris Stewart kept his cool enough to deliver a fantastic commentary on the play, his partner Roger Hoover freaked out. Arms in the air, pumped first, dropped jaws and laughs of joy all around.

Can you blame them? No. 22 Alabama drove in another run in the inning to ultimately win. Just two games in, Crimson Tide fans have already experienced a rollercoaster of a tournament. As the top team in its region, Alabama also narrowly defeated an inferior Nicholls squad 4-3.

Survive and advance. Alabama will face the winner of Boston College and Troy to move on to the Super Regional. Alabama’s Andrew Pinckney is just happy to be on the good side of the baseball machine.

“It’s the nature of the game. Nobody is really out of it until the end on the ninth inning, and as long as you’re putting in good at-bats and winning pitches, things might happen.”

T9 | E6 and that’ll bring in a pair! Tide. In. Front.
