Alabama making sure Tuscaloosa County RB feels wanted

Alabama making sure Tuscaloosa County RB feels wanted

Alabama had three of its top running back targets on campus in the last week (all at different times): Nathaniel Frazier (Sunday-Tuesday morning), Daniel Hill (Tuesday), and Kevin Riley attended the Tide’s spring game. The local star is feeling the love from the hometown school.

“Bama is on my top schools list after going over there a few times,” Riley said after attending the A-Day game. “The people and support there are amazing.” Riley has attended multiple practices in Tuscaloosa during the spring leading up to Saturday’s visit.

Alabama had more running backs drafted (11) than any other school since 2010. The list includes two former Tuscaloosa natives- Brian Robinson Jr. and Bo Scarbrough. Riley moved to Alabama in the second grade. He compares himself to Jahmyr Gibbs, another former Tide back who will also go in the NFL draft this week.

Riley also took spring visits to Auburn, Georgia and Miami. He was impressed with what he saw from the Alabama backfield which included Justice Haynes, the No. 2 running back in the 2023 class.

“The things I liked today, after watching them during the week and see how hard they work, was just seeing them put what they learned in practice into the game,” he said. ”That was cool to see.”

Alabama will likely receive official visit

The Top-10 running back, per the On3 Sports Industry Ranking, does not have any official visits scheduled at this time. He expects to announce a decision before his senior season. A decision may ultimately come down between the in-state schools.

Riley didn’t have a favorite school growing up within a few miles from the Alabama campus. He had favorite players. The recruiting process has increased his interest in certain programs, and the position coaches play a big role.

“My relationship with Coach G (Robert Gillespie) is cool,” he said. “He stays in contact with me. He’s a fun person to be around.”

Coach Gillespie, Nick Saban and the Alabama staff will continue its pursuit of the Tuscaloosa County star. The Tide should receive an official visit, and remain in top contention until the end of his recruitment.
