Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor not in uniform for season opener

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor did not start the season opener.

Proctor suffered an injury in pregame warmups and went to the locker room before the rest of his teammates. He emerged in street clothes with his left arm in a sling. A specific reason was not given before the Crimson Tide’s season opener against Western Kentucky.

Getting the start in place of Proctor was Elijah Pritchett, who was set to rotate at right tackle with Wilkin Formby after a preseason-long competition. Pritchett actually filled in for Proctor in the spring when the latter briefly transferred to Iowa after the 2023 campaign. 

As a true freshman, Proctor played in and started all 14 games at left tackle for Alabama last season and was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team. But the former 5-star recruit elected to enter the transfer portal after Nick Saban announced his retirement on Jan. 10, leaving the Crimson Tide with very little experience at either offensive tackle position.

Getting him back was huge, but Proctor’s UA return will be delayed for at least one game.

The rest of Alabama’s starting offensive line consisted of Tyler Booker at left guard, Parker Brailsford at center, Jaeden Roberts at right guard and Formby at right tackle. Jalen Milroe got the start at quarterback and was joined in the backfield by Justice Haynes. Germie Bernard, Kendrick Law and freshman Ryan Williams were the starting wide receivers.
