Alabama Intel: RB target to announce soon, more visits scheduled

News continues to happen fast in the Alabama football recruiting world with spring evaluations coming to an end and official visits on the horizon. The summer months will bring in several players set to also compete in summer camp.

The latest recruiting intel takes a closer look at a top running back target set to commit next week, a few new official visit dates and how a tight end committing elsewhere impacts the Crimson Tide.

IMG Academy RB to announce next week

Anthony Rogers, 2025 Top 100 running back from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, revealed his top five schools. He announced a commitment date on Sunday with the finalists: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Oregon. He will announce the decision on June 2.

Alabama currently has three commitments in its No. 2 ranked 2025 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Team Rankings. Those players include Ryan Williams, five-star wide receiver from Saraland High School in Alabama, Dontrell Glover, four-star offensive lineman from Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia, and Mason Short, four-star offensive lineman from Evans High School in Georgia.

Is the Crimson Tide in line to add its fourth ’25 commitment?

Rogers, who transferred to IMG from Pike Road High School in Alabama this spring, grew up an Alabama fan. He has visited Tuscaloosa several times including Junior Day on March 4. He visited Auburn in January, and also took an unofficial visit to Florida last month.

BamaInsider will reveal a final prediction prior to the announcement. It’s rare for Alabama to take an underclassman running back prior to solidifying its current class. Rogers, however, is a rare exception. He has a green light to commit to the Tide. It’s also the direction BamaInsider is currently leaning in his upcoming decision.

Alabama remains in heavy pursuit of several top ’24 targets including Nathaniel Frazier, Kevin Riley and Daniel Hill, to name a few. The Tide signed two of the top four backs in the ’23 class: Justice Haynes and Richard Young.

Rogers burst on the recruiting scene during his freshman campaign when he helped lead the Patriots to the Class 5A state title. He rushed for 1,626 yards and 22 touchdowns with an 8.7 yards per carry average during the 2022 season.

Texas lineman shifts official visit

Michael Uini. (Justin Wells/Inside Texas)

Michael Uini, four-star offensive tackle from Copperas Cove High School in Texas, has moved up his official visit to Alabama. Uini was originally scheduled to visit on September 8-10. He will now take a mid-week official visit with the Crimson Tide on June 20-22. He also has visits scheduled next month to Clemson (June 2-4), Florida (June 9-11), Michigan (June 16-18) and Georgia (June 23-25).

Texas is also considered a top contender in his recruitment. He has visited Austin several times. Uini also revealed plans to announce a commitment on September 9 (mom’s birthday).

Uini camped in Tuscaloosa last summer. The official visit will mark his first return trip since receiving the initial offer on June 15. Alabama visited Uini’s school multiple times this spring including the most recent visit from offensive line coach, Eric Wolford. Uini is considered one of the Tide’s top offensive line targets.

“Bama, it’s just different the way they work out and the way coach (Nick) Saban moves around a lot of the players and how tough he is,” Uini told On3 Sports when discussing his top six schools. “They’re an all-time college football team, and I can see it.”

Alabama/LSU battle for four-star safety?

Joel Rogers, four-star safety from West Feliciana High School in St. Francisville, Louisiana, received an offer from Alabama on March 21. Outside linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler replaced former defensive coordinator Pete Golding as the area recruiter in the Pelican State. Rogers, after spring evaluations, has ascended to one of the Tide’s top defensive targets.

The 6-foot, 185-pound athlete plays on both sides of the ball including quarterback. He is strictly recruited for defense. Rogers will take an official visit to Alabama on June 9-11. He is also scheduled to visit LSU (June 2-4) and TCU (June 16-18). A decision is expected after completion of the three trips.

“I like the communication,” Rogers told On3 regarding his connection with Alabama. “We communicate consistently, and that shows they really want me. It’s both ways, and I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from them.

“There’s a great opportunity there to be coached by some of the best and some of the most well-known coaches in college football history,” Rogers added. “Coach T-Rob is a great coach. I saw him at practice this spring, and I love the way he coaches.”

Alabama does not have a safety commitments in its 2024 class. The Tide signed Caleb Downs, the No. 1 safety in the 2023 class. It also signed Tony Mitchell and Bray Hubbard. Mitchell’s future remains in the air after a spring arrest on drug charges. Alabama needs to add a few safeties in this class.

LSU currently leads the On3 Sports RPM with a 77.8% chance to sign with the Tigers. The home state school extended an offer to Rogers a few weeks prior to offer from Alabama. LSU has also made a big push lately. The decision will likely come down between the Tide and Tigers.
