Additional intel, notes on incoming Ohio State official visitors

COLUMBUS — Ohio State welcomes another batch of talented prospects onto campus this weekend.

The Buckeyes have 10 official visitors heading to campus this weekend with a number of five-star prospects on the way.

Lettermen Row shares some notes and intel about each prospect heading to the capital city this weekend.

Let’s dive back in.

ICYMI: Intel, notes on Ohio State official visitors for June 16-18

OT Guerby Lambert

Four-star West Roxbury (Mass) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Guerby Lambert makes his debut visit to Ohio State this weekend. As far as uncommitted targets go, there’s an argument for Lambert to be the most important.

Ohio State missed out last cycle on a marquee, pure offensive tackle. While the Buckeyes did land Luke Montgomery, which is nothing to scoff at, they were in the mix for several of the country’s best and didn’t land them.

Offensive line coach Justin Frye already has four commits in the class. The Buckeyes hosted Brandon Baker last weekend and made a big dent in his recruitment. Notre Dame, Boston College and Penn State are the big competition for Ohio State with Lambert.

CB Zabien Brown

This will be an interesting situation to watch heading into the weekend.

Four-star Santa Ana (Calif) Mater Dei cornerback Zabien Brown is supposed to head to Ohio State this weekend, but that could ultimately not happen.

He was at nearby USC last weekend where Lettermen Row sources say the Trojans just about sealed up his recruitment. The Buckeyes have a stronger pull with other cornerback targets, but if he makes the trip to Columbus, there won’t be a half-hearted effort by Ohio State.

CB Corian Gipson

Four-star Lancaster (Texas) cornerback Corian Gipson makes his Ohio State debut visit this weekend, and talking with sources, that might be all it is.

Gipson has been a Texas lean for some time, but there is always a shot that the Buckeyes can provide a wow factor to disrupt anyone’s leanings. The No. 9 cornerback per On3 is a listed 6-feet, 160-pounds, which is a great length at the position.

Gipson has an official visit with the Longhorns the week after his with the Buckeyes, however.

SAF Peyton Woodyard (Georgia commit)

Four-star Bellflower (Calif) St. John Bosco safety and Georgia commit Peyton Woodyard returns to Ohio State.

Woodyard made an unannounced, unofficial visit that Lettermen Row reported on back in March. He then locked in an official visit a few weeks following that.

His relationship with safeties coach Perry Eliano has always been a major driving force for decisions in his recruitment. Multiple sources have said he and his family like Ohio State, but enough to flip?

That remains to be seen, but it is significant that since he’s been committed to the Bulldogs, no lines of communication to Ohio State have closed.

SAF Jordon Johnson-Rubell

Four-star Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell returns to Ohio State for the first time since March.

The Fort Worth, Texas, native was part of a massive unofficial visit weekend and now returns for a massive official weekend. Ohio State has to impress Johnson-Rubell knowing that its top options in Bolden and Woodyard are on campus as well.

He is a Texas lean, but again, never count out Ohio State.
