Aaron Rodgers explains the time he saw a UFO
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is known for keeping an open mind about most things in life. Add UFOs to the list.
On the fifth and final installment of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series debuting on Tuesday night, Rodgers detailed his UFO experience prior to the 2005 NFL Draft. It started just before he was going to bed at the house of former Cal teammate Steve Levy.
“I was making my way to bed and I had like a 5 a.m. wakeup and as I was getting down to bed, I heard this alarm in the distance going off. And it just didn’t seem like normal and I heard some rustling downstairs so I got up, walked downstairs, it was a beautiful night,” Rodgers said. “And Steve and his brother and I walked outside and up in the clouds we heard this sound, we saw this tremendously large object moving through the sky.
“And it was like a scene out of ‘Independence Day’ when the ships are coming into the atmosphere and they’re creating kind of explosion type fire in the sky. We just saw this incredibly large object and froze, as anybody would. Because, you don’t know what the hell is going on. Eventually it went out of sight and nobody said a word.”
The trio stood stock still in the New Jersey night air for less than a minute before an unmistakable sound broke through the shock.
“About 30 seconds later we heard the real recognizable sound of fighter jets going “sho, sho, sho.” The jets seemed to be chasing this object. And again, we just stood there and just disbelief for another few minutes and nobody said a word. And then we all kind of looked at each other like, ‘Did we just see what we think we just saw? What was that?’ Eventually, 20 minutes later, we kind of wound down a little bit, went back to bed,” Rodgers said. “And then you’re still not really sleeping. You just experienced this bizarre experience.”
Rodgers did acknowledge a number of explanations for parts of this UFO sighting. But he didn’t discount that he still doesn’t know precisely what he and the Levy brothers saw that night.
“We looked in the papers and online the next few days and there was nothing about it. That got me into researching more about UFOs, the siren or alarm had been from a nuclear power plant which was about nine miles away. And if you know anything about UFOs, there’s a lot of sightings around nuclear energy, around volcanoes, around power plants,” Rodgers said. “But yes, Steve and I: Great friends, teammates, and also witnessed whatever the hell it was. I don’t know. But it was definitely unidentified, it was definitely flying, and it was definitely a large object.”
