Aaron Jones addresses his usage over recent years, if he wants more touches

Green Bay Packers running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon have each received a lot of touches out of the backfield over the last few seasons. But whenever there’s at least two talented playmakers out of the backfield, negative feelings regarding their lack of usage could arise over time.
That does not appear to be the case with Jones, who has been the starting running back in Green Bay for the past half-decade.
“As long as we’re winning I’m happy,” Jones said last week during minicamp. “That’s all that matters. I can’t remember off the top of my head how many touches I average per game. Bu the way I’ve been used doesn’t bother me. They give me the ball. Coach LeFleur makes a point to get me in certain packages and different things like that and continue to grow my game so I don’t have to come off the field. Some of that is on me as well.”
Jones has been the Packers leader in touches during the regular season every year since 2018. Since being drafted by the team in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of UTEP, the only year he wasn’t the team’s leader in touches was his rookie season. He had 90 touches that year, which was good for third on the team.
Jones has been over 223 touches the past four season with the highest number coming 2019, which was the last season with 16 regular season games. He had 285 touches that year while playing in all 16 games and tying for the league lead in rushing touchdowns.
In 2022, a season in which in played all 17 games and started every one of them, Jones had 272 touches for 1516 total yards from scrimmage. In addition to leading the team with 213 rushing attempts, he was also second on the team in catches with 59. Wideout Allen Lazard led the team with 60 catches.
Dillon, who was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, had 214 touches last season. Nobody else on the Packers had more than 62 touches on the season.
It was the second year in a row Dillon had over 200 touches in a season. He had 221 during the 2021 season with 1,116 scrimmage yards on the year.
