A deep dive into what Oregon Ducks gained, lost in transfer portal

Few programs in college football have experienced a greater amount of transfer portal activity than Oregon has over the past six months.

A total of 30 Oregon scholarship players entered the portal during the previous two transfer windows — 21 in the winter and nine in the spring. Meanwhile, the Ducks added 10 scholarship players during the winter transfer cycle and four during the spring for a total of 14 scholarship additions.

Oregon has lost more than twice as many players as it has added since the end of the 2022 regular season. Of course, the sheer number of incoming and outgoing players doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story.

In terms of offensive and defensive snaps played per season during the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, the players who joined the Ducks during the offseason saw a far greater share of playing time at their respective previous schools than the players who departed Oregon saw during their respective UO careers.

Here’s a breakdown of the snap counts played by each of the Ducks’ additions and departures in 2021 and 2022. Players who missed significant time due to injury, or who were still in high school during the 2021 season, have been noted.
