Bubba Wallace believes his team can ‘regroup’ and earn a win this season

Bubba Wallace believes his team can ‘regroup’ and earn a win this season

For a while there, Bubba Wallace was rallying off top-5 finishes like they were nothing. He has since cooled off a bit. However, the NASCAR driver isn’t letting himself get bogged down in what could have been these last few weeks.

Instead, Bubba Wallace seems to have a good outlook on the end of the season. He’s in a position that he’s never been in before. He currently sits 15th in the standings and is playoff eligible as of right now.

After three top-5s in a row, four if you count the All-Star Race, Wallace moved up the standings and is now in a great position to make the playoffs. He has to pick it up, though.

In the last four races, Wallace has finishes of P30 (DNF), P17, P15, and P31. That is a far cry from his P4, P5, P2, P4 streak he went on.

“These last few races haven’t gone really well, and it wasn’t because we were looking at points,” Wallace said, via NASCAR. “We just haven’t executed. We know the situation that we’re in, and we know we’re right there on the cusp of our first win of the season.

“We’ve just got to put it all together… We’ve just got to regroup. Our team can do it. I believe one thousand percent in this group, and it’s just a matter of time. We’ll be there.”

Atlanta and the Quaker State 400 is a good place to get back on the right track.

What to expect from Bubba Wallace at Atlanta

While he isn’t among the favorites this weekend, Atlanta is a track that now plays into Bubba Wallace’s strengths. He is a good drafting racer and there will be plenty of that on Sunday. Wallace needs to execute better, just like he said in the quote above.

Last season, Wallace had finishes of P13 and P14 in Atlanta. This season, he was a poor P27 in the Peach State. So, what can we expect from Wallace at this track?

Well, we’ve seen exactly how he has performed on the intermediate tracks this season and that is exactly when he went on his hot streak. Looking past Atlanta, Wallace has plenty of opportunities in the next month.

Following Atlanta, NASCAR heads to New Hampshire, Pocono, Richmond, and Michigan. Bubba Wallace had two top-5s and a top-10 finish in those races last season.
