2025 LB Christian Jones likes that Nebraska is making in-state recruits a priority

Christian Jones transferred to Omaha (Neb.) Westside in the spring of his freshman year. Jones helped Westside to a state title last year. He and his teammates know that a bullseye is on their back, and they are working hard to be even better than they were a year ago. The four-star 2025 linebacker had a quiet summer because of their goals for the fall.
“I hate missing practice,” Jones said. “Our goal right now is to elevate and win another state championship and be a moving target because we have a big one our back. I didn’t want to miss any practices.
“I wanted to be with the team and if I wanted to go to any colleges for a visit I was going to have to miss practice. I didn’t want to do that. That’s one reason. Travel is expensive and it’s a lot of energy. I like to be around my family.
“So it was a pretty slow summer. I went to the Future 50, which is an UnderArmour camp. That was fun. That was about it.”
Jones and his teammates are at it every morning, bright and early. They aren’t just building themselves as individuals. They are building a brotherhood, according to Jones.
“We have workouts every morning at 6:30. We are building our brotherhood, sweating together and pushing each other to be better together. We are off this week, and we had a 7v7 tournament so that was fun. We get back to the grind next week.”
Christian Jones noticing Nebraska doing well
The Nebraska 2024 recruiting class is up to 23 commitments and is currently No. 19 in the nation. The Huskers have also landed two 2025 commitments from the Omaha area. Jones knows that Nebraska is doing well and why.
“Nebraska is doing a really good job,” Jones said. “Everyone is loving on the staff and they are loving on the in-state guys.
“They are making them a priority which is good knowing that the home state school wants you to play for them. Caden (VerMaas) and Tyson’s (Terry) commitments, I mean, good for them! I am proud of them. They are good players.”
The fall is less than two months away, but Jones hasn’t given it a lot of thought. So many of his plans to take visits come together just days before. He knows he wants to see some schools he hasn’t been to before and he will get back to Lincoln too.
“At the moment, I don’t have a list of things I will do. It’s usually something that I figure out the week before. I am probably going to get to some schools that I haven’t been to. Maybe I will try to get to the east coast and the west coast and southern schools. Nebraska told me that I am always welcome. I will be back for some games.”
