Florida defender with a Notre Dame offer schedules first visit

Notre Dame’s late-July recruiting cookout will include a defensive lineman leaving the South for a college visit for the first time. On Wednesday, 2025 recruit Jarquez Carter told Blue & Gold he intends to travel to South Bend on July 30 for a Notre Dame visit.
Fighting Irish defensive line coach Al Washington and defensive coordinator Al Golden offered the 6-foot-3, 270-pound Carter a scholarship on May 23. The Newberry (Fla.) High rising junior has 12 total scholarship offers, including ones from Louisville, Miami (Fla.) Penn State and UCF.
Power Five program’s interest in Carter comes after a sophomore season in which he had 78 tackles (36 solo), 23 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three caused fumbles and a fumble recovery on 10 games.
Before his Notre Dame visit, Carter has been to UCF (3), Florida (2) and Ole Miss for non-camp visits. Last month, he participated in camp sessions at Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Miami. However, the former three schools — as well as Ole Miss — have not to offered him a scholarship.
Carter will return to Florida State on an unofficial visit on July 29.
In the summer 2022, Carter camped at Florida (2), Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU, South Carolina and South Alabama. He still awaits scholarship offers from each of those schools.
Carter is one of 20 defensive linemen — as positionally classified by On3 — that Notre Dame has offered in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Irish have offered 13 players from Florida, including Notre Dame commit Davion Dixon and targets Armondo Blount and Brandon Brown.
Carter does not yet hold an On3 or On3 Industry Ranking rating. His On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $7,600.
